Sears like no other
I've used this grill 2-4 times a week for cooking single serving meats and fish. I've had it for almost 5 years. I was a big steak eater when I bought it--the primary reason being that I wanted a medium-rare steak with a seared outer edge. I have never found a home grill that could do this easily. Until this grill. The secret is the ceramic element that gets super hot and can easily sear a steak, and many other foods. It warms up in 5 minutes or less and cooks like a dream. Cook with the lid open and flip the meat every minute until done. This cooks the meat evenly from outside to inside while creating the seared exterior. I use a meat thermometer for everything but hamburgers, which I time.I managed to darken the grill's top by closing it for a while on high heat setting. But I was able to remove most of it with sandpaper. The Solaire Anywhere is easy to clean (as far as grills go). It's also efficient--a 20-gallon LP gas tank lasts 3-4 months. It is a perfect portable grill with bag for camping and picnics. This is my favorite grill after 55 years of experimenting.

Does a great job on steaks and burgers - but
This thing gets hot and it cooks quick. You have to stay right on it to make sure you don't turn what you're cooking into charcoal. A one inch steak will cook in seven or eight minutes, flippingit about every two minutes. The one downside (for me) is that it is a bit hard to clean the grate. I found it's easiest to take the grate out and soak it the sink to soften up the burnt on grease from what your cooking. It is expensive but the quality of the construction and the way it cooks makes it worth it for us. A nice compact unit. We use it in our r.v. so I also purchased the low pressure quick connect system for it. This is an extra expense.

Four Stars
Nice grill. Gets very hot, but goes through one pound tanks pretty fast. Buy a case of spare tanks..

Not as advertised
Very difficult to clean. Hard to regulate cooking temp. The grate is not easy to cook on. All in all, very disappointed in a $400 plus unit that is not fun to deal with. Also, they want a 50 percent restocking fee if its used. How are you supposed to know if you like it if you don't use it.

Useless on a boat
I bought this grill to use on my boat. The biggest problem is that its unusable in any sort of wind which is always on a boat! Also the grill has no drip tray so grease just builds up on the bottom of the grill, so you basically have to take the infrared element out and scoop out the grease.....Gross! The grill is made cheaply, the igniter quit working after the first couple of uses, the gas regulator is garbage, and then when you want to stow the grill in the supplied carry case you have to put the grill on its back, so then the infrared element just falls out and bangs around in the shell. In the end, this is a very expensive stainless steel box with an infrared element on the inside. If you want a grill thats ACTUALLY made for the marine environment then go with the Magma, ANY Magma will be far superior to this thing.

Great for Fast Cooks / Grilling
Wow! Great for fast grill of steaks, vegetables and the like. Worked better then expected for a portable grill. The ‘v’ shape great works great on grill marks and vaporizing drippings adding flavor back to the item being cooked.Would advise this is not for slower cooks and you can not close the lid while in use. If you use a small propane bottle in cool weather, it may frost up. Found having a couple spare bottles to swap out works out, or use a 20lb bottle instead.

Not for marine use!
I have an infrared grill at home and it blows out in a slight breeze. You simply cannot use an infrared grill in a windy environment, won't work. Just don't make the mistake of buying a Magma grill. They use 304 stainless vs. 316 that is covered in surface rust in 6 months.

This is different than most portable barbecues!
The ceramic burner is great for blackening the meat, but for large pieces of chicken, I had to turn the temperature to low. The top is not to be put down during any cooking, only for travel and to keep interior clean.
