The center polishing cup (used to be yellow, now purple in this version) gives these heads the increased whitening performance. Unlike brush bristles which use the toothpaste to dislodge plaque, the polishing cap rubs the paste against the tooth. This allows components in toothpastes, like micro-beads (or "Micro-cleansing teeth whiteners" as per Crest 3D White Brilliance Toothpaste's page) to scrub away surface stains. I can confirm they really do work. This is also a good price for this many brush heads. If you change them every 3 months like it suggests, this is a years supply for <$20. That's $1.60/month if you want to break it down that way.I did mention that these can get dirty, and that is a function of how they're designed with a little narrow hole that the oscillating metal post from the brush body inserts into. This is common to all brush heads for these brush bodies and is not specific to this brand; you can't escape it. If you are like me, you don't want to take the time to pop the brush head off after every brushing, and it will stay wet (from the water you rinse the brush with, not saliva). This wetness in a perfect environment for bacteria to build up in, and if you're really gross, you'll ignore this long enough for the brush to get a smell (pro tip, don't do that). You could take time and effort to scrub out that little hole with a q-tip if you want, but it isn't super effective. In my opinion, the easiest and best way to clean it is to use hydrogen peroxide 3% solution that you can get from many stores for about $1.50/16 oz (450 mL) or there about. Simply stick the brush head in a little cup and fill with peroxide solution at least to the small hole in the front of the brush head. Leave it overnight. It will foam and a bunch of gross stuff will pour out of that little hole. You can also cover the brush head or turn it over to get the head itself clean. I'd recommend doing this 1-3 times per month to keep everything fresh, but you're welcome to do more or less as you wish.Overall this is a great product, and I'm glad I found them here because I was looking everywhere in stores for this type of head. They're my favorite.

Great brush heads. I was afraid they might not fit my toothbrush, but they do. I got them to use with a pumice, pasty type of tooth polish. They work well for it.

I don’t know how they do it, but these work so much better than the standard or cross versions of the oral b heads at removing stains. Amazing!

These are great! I was hoping they would fit my old toothbrush, and they do. They work very well. They clean teeth well and are not too soft. They perfect amount of brush.

Read a review on a different website where someone mentioned these heads are very similar to what is used during a cleaning at their dentist's office. I think the plastic cup shaped piece in the middle of the head is helpful in providing that deeper cleaning. I alternate using this head and a softer bristle head to help keep my teeth clean.
