Challenging and Encouraging
In a clear, readable style, Steve Sampson describes how many Christians are robbed of their spiritual authority because they are living under a spirit of passivity. Inferiority, fear, avoidance of conflict at any cost and a sense of shame and unworthiness, often originating from early childhood experiences, are some of the attitudes and behaviour experienced by men and women under the influence of this 'Ahab spirit' with disastrous consequences for their relationships in all spheres of life. With practical examples, bible references and testimonies, readers are shown how to exercise their Godly assertiveness in Christ liberating them to fulfil their God-given purposes. There are fundamental differences for instance, between being 'peace-keepers' or a 'peace-makers'; being aggressive and being assertive.Although compassionate to those trapped in the spirit of passivity, Sampson, emphasises the importance of not only identifying but also facing up to and taking responsibility for the ensuing deeply ingrained and inappropriate behaviour patterns. This book is helpful and challenging for all Christians. Recommended.

Amazingly accurate!
I just wish Steve Sampson's books had been published 30 years ago. They are so true to what I've experienced myself. Sad though it is, I believe many Christians have been duped over many decades by fairytale teachings - where the devil's work has been totally overlooked. It's time the lid is taken off 'accepted church culture,' and the evil which resides so easily within exposed - particularly where individuals are afraid of confronting that which is clearly wrong. Any discerning Christian who is concerned about squabbles, slander, injustices and lies within their own church should read this book. You won't regret it.
