Good quality cameras, easy to add cameras, NVR software is lacking
The Yeskam NVR surveillance system is a very capable high resolution 1080p system, easy to install and at a bargain price. I’ve used the system for 12 month now and have been very impressed. All of my evaluations are when using the 6 camera system and adding another wired manufacture PTZ camera covering the exterior of a 3300 sq ft home and when viewing on a 55" 1080P TV with the system input to one of the HDMI inputs. Here is a summary of my experiences and Ive included some photographs to illustrate.* Start up is plug and play and seamless when used out of the box! The cameras are already paired. - Connecting everything up temporarily before installing, the Yeskam system quickly recognized and seamlessly installed all 6 wireless cameras and displayed video on the TV screen without any operator input. - The cameras themselves are good quality water proof metal housing. - The provided antennas can swivel in any orientation which helps to make them parallel with the receiver antennas for optimum performance.* Video quality is very good! - The video has excellent color and good fidelity. - For comparison attached is a picture of the same scene from a 9 megapixel phone camera and the Yeskam image from a 55” TV. (The swirls on the TV are an interaction of the camera and the TV and not visible to the human eye.) - Although the cameras are 1080P, don’t expect Blueray like quality or movie smoothness. Video compression and processing can make movement jumpy. - That said it’s a 2 mega pixel image and pretty good. - Low light performance is very good and that combined with the IR illumination provides a excellent night time display. See picture attached for a night time viewing example. - Exposure dynamic range is good. By that I mean in scene with sun and shadow the camera does a good job of setting a good exposure to be able to view the image.* Camera Resolution is good. - A license plate number can be discerned from a distance of 21 ft. (see attached picture at 21ft): - I experimented placing a license plate at various distances and the longest distance during day time I could resolve the plate number was about 21 feet for a stationary target.* Installation issues are mainly with WiFi - The biggest issue when installing the cameras is finding WiFi camera locations that will provide adequate signal strength. The manual provides a good rule of thumb for distance vs. wall obstructions. I found it to be a good guide. The manual states 2 walls between transmitter and receiver is estimated to be 50ft range. Also they recommend the receiver and transmitter antennas are parallel and at the same height. - For my installation the farthest camera is 80ft distant and through an outside wall and 2 inner walls. That camera signal strength will range from 1 to 3 bars throughout the day and is typically 2 bars. That camera will occasionally drop out and lose the picture. For a signal quality metric perhaps more telling than the signal strength is to watch the seconds clock. When the signal strength is at 1 or 2 bars the seconds will become very jumpy or even stop updating for a minute. - A signal strength icon of 0 to 4 bars is displayed in the video upper right corner. Best performance was with minimum of 3 bars. Lower strength then that and the data rate reduces and the image can become jumpy and can take several seconds to update the image. - There is a single extension antenna provided with about 10ft of coax that can be used to place past a signal attenuating wall to improve signal strength. It has a stated 9dbi gain vs. the 5.5 dbi gain of the stock antennas. I tried the extension antenna on my worse case camera but did not see any signal strength improvement - The cameras can be Ethernet or cabled directly to the NVR should signal strength issues not overcome - When a outside AC power outlet was not in reach for the cameras power adapter I drilled holes through the wall to reach an inside outlet. The power cable is about 15’ long so good reach but I did purchase DC extension cable for a couple of locations and the cameras worked fine with the extension. -- Subsequent to the initial wireless installation, I changed over 2 cameras to wired ethernet over my home network with the single NVR ethernet port connected also. Within seconds the NVR identified the cameras and they were up and operating.* Wireless Repeater function works - When signal strength is marginal you can use another camera that is in range of both the receiver and transmitter as a repeater. The function works well and easy to setup. However there is a data rate loss when doing this and the image can become jumpy.* Some Nice Features (too many to mention but a few highlights here): - Motion detection to trigger recording - Works well with 5 sensitivity level settings and “Area Edit” where you can review areas of video you don’t want to be included in motion detection. - I’ve had detects are from wind blown foliage which I could area edit out, sudden changes of light and bugs that seem attracted to the IR camera LEDs. - Remote monitoring: Monitor video from a phone or computer from anywhere with Internet connect. I’ve done both from phone and PC and it works well. - Playback of motion detected or from any time for 1 to 4 cameras at a time. - Water proofing Ethernet adapters are provided should you use Ethernet vs. WiFi. - The NVR will operate and provides software controls with any wired ONVIF camera including Pan, Tilt, Zoom control - Repeater function described previously.* Tech Support is OK - The provided manual has the basics to get started but does not nearly cover all the functions and capability of the NVR. Upon request to Yeskam I received by email a 60 page manual for the system which has helped immensely. Im not sure why they didnt make that available upon first use. - I had many questions and they generally addressed the questions well in english.- They respond from China and within about a workday. I think there is a day difference between U.S. and China.UPDATE 4/22/18:- Ive subsequently added a 7th and 8th camera. Another Yeskamo bullet camera and a PTZ non Yeskamo wired camera. Unlike the cameras that come with the NVR kit, adding a new camera has to be paired with the NVR by connecting with wired ethernet before operating wirelessly.- Ive also successfully added a wired a 8th camera, a ethernet PTZ camera with 20x zoom (SUNBA). Its not straightforward installation and ultimately SUNBA support was able to help. From the NVR display I am able to Pan, Tilt, and Zoom and also save and recall camera positions.UPDATE: 11/9/18.Switching cameras to wired configuration is easy! 2 of my cameras suffered from poor signal due to all the walls the signal needed to travel through. After trying antenna relocation and also more gain antennas I still could not get adequate signal to prevent long drop outs. So I decided to connect to wired ethernet. The Yeskamo system makes this very easy. I simply connect the camera to the network by connecting a cable to the cameras already attached ethernet socket or dongle. A green light on the dongle indicates successful connection to the network. Then to reconfigure the NVR, select "Video Manage" and now view the "video Manage" window with 2 sets of 8 rows. Then "Refresh". The system will automatically recognize a wired connection and switch from wireless to ethernet as can be seen in the upper window as the address will be in your home network range vs the NVR range of 172.xxx. In the "added device" window or botton 8 rows delete the old wired camera then back to the top rows, double click the new wired camera and its added! In a few seconds it will negotiate an IP address and begin working!Update 1/9/2019: there are some ommissions in the NVR software. Most importantly and amazingly there is no snapshot capability to save a picture. One can still do this by saving a video file to a USB drive and using PC software to capture a still image. Cumbersome and totally astonishing that they would leave such an important feature out.Another issue was suddenly the fast forward stopped working, Well Yeskamo was willing to replace the NVR and update the firmware but not the harddrive. Ultimately I had to purchase another harddrive and that was the problem. They did however give me another camera for free for my trouble. Conclusion: Im happy ith this system for its ease of install, video quality and perhaps most importantly the price for all that. Its got some issue as with snapshot but for the price its well worth it

Too good to be true.
I bought two - 6 camera systems, nothing but headaches, their customer service is good while your in the timeframe for returning items, they will stop caring after that time is up and just ignore you. I jump ahead and bought four extra cameras to make each system an eight camera system. i recieved four cameras and they don’t come with power adapters, so be ready to spend 20 dollars more for each power adapter, Luckily, I found them on ebay for 5 dollars each, I finally installed cameras around my business, but after 10 feet video gets snowy, after 15 feet, camera footage gets choppy, picture and recording are in and out, forget about trying to identify who or what is on disc, complete headache. I would not recommend these cameras to anybody, unless you are installing them under ten feet from dvr, no further. im so dissapointed with these expensive cameras. Not worth it, look elsewhere. Too good to be true. Very expensive lesson for me.

Security System
As Advertised the cameras were easy to install and configure. The cameras have a decent picture viewing angle but the advertised 80ft range to read a license plate is not, what I found, to be the case which is what I bought them for in the first place. Customer service is a little slow but that is because you have a delay of a couple of days to get your feedback. The iphone software does not work all the time. first time setup worked then one day it just quit and I can't get it to work. The manual is long and only in PDF format there are sections that are totally confusing. The extended range antenna that came with the system is worse than the short antenna that came with the camera. the software that is installed in the DVR shows a configuration for a PTZ camera but when I contacted the company they told me they do not sell a PTZ camera. I asked if there was another manufacturer that was compatible but never got a response. All in all the system does work well and I will keep contacting them until I get everything up and running to my satisfaction.
