This is a very well designed machine
The machine is very well designed, the components are heavy, has all metal rollers and rails (NOT plastic slides), and all fit together perfectly, and when assembled it is a sturdy unit that will last a lifetime.I got the 10w head.I have made dozens of little things, mostly to get the hang of using it. The picture is 3mm plywood. My primary reason to purchase was to burn my name and logo on my other woodworking projects that I sell. For that it is perfect, the results are very impressive and gives my project a professional look.I really have no complaints about the machine itself. The included software, however, is very frustrating. It is not at all intuitive and randomly changes settings, randomly disconnects from the laser, and is not very functional. I have been using CNC equipment for over 30 years, and also have a CNC router, so I am very familiar with how these are supposed to function. It will take an investment of at least $60 to purchase a much better program (Lightburn for example) but be aware that there is a learning curve. As of this writing, the included software and Lightburn are the only programs that can be used with this machine, far as I know. So, all in all I am very satisfied with this machine and highly recommend.BE AWARE:Many other machines boast higher wattage, but these numbers are misleading. The D1 is 10W OUTPUT power. This machine input is 60w, Laser input is 40w. Compare like numbers if you are looking at other machines. Present technology for a diode laser OUTPUT is 10w, the D1 combines 2 lasers to produce 10w.You will also need some sort of metal grid or rack for your material. It needs air gap under the material to cut properly. Under that rack must be a non-flammable surface. I use two 12"x24" ceramic tiles, some use things like baking pans or metal sheet. The tiles cost me less than $4.This laser has no air assist, this part is almost important enough that it should be part of the package. You will need the cone head and an air pump. XTool has an official FB page where you can get all the information to do this, as well as YT, there are dozens of options to choose from as many people sell their versions of a nozzle that is 3D printed on those selling web sites, as well as here on Amazon.Unless you are outdoors or have a window close by...as in directly over it, you must have some way to exhaust the fumes. A laser does cut by burning, remember, and does make smoke. Sometimes a lot of it. Use in in your house will set of smoke detectors. Some materials like galvanized metal, some plastics and painted surfaces produce potentially harmful smoke. You do not need an elaborate setup, I made a simple box out of 1/4" plywood scraps that act as a fume hood. Mine only covers the top, the bottom is open. I purchased a 200 cfm inline duct fan and got standard dryer hose and fittings from the local big box store and it sucks 100% of the smoke out of the enclosure and spits it outside thru a dryer vent. The picture shows a quick disconnect for the dryer hose in the top of the enclosure, as I hinged the top and have to unplug the hose when I open it.There are commercially available enclosures as well, a search will yield more than a few options.I got the laser safety plexiglass thru an online search. MAKE SURE that the plexy is rated for a diode laser, plain colored acrylic will not work and you could damage your eyes. You also need to be absolutely sure that there are no children in the area if any of the laser light is visible.Anyone would be very pleased to have this machine.

This machine is durable and well made, customer support is fantastic
The Xtool is a great starter laser, good power in its class of LED lasers, engraves and cuts through 5mm plywood easily enough, can be used on metal with a little preparation. The machine is made using metal rails and rollers, the components are well built and fit together perfectly. The easy to put together parts only required about 30 minutes to assemble the entire unit. The basic software could use some improvements, but xtool recently released the Xtool Creative Space software that works quite well for beginners and intermediate users and people that just don't have time and energy to learn how to use LightBurn. This tool has wifi capability and some modest software available for mobile devices to quickly put together a project using your phone, though it seems to be more of a beta software at this time.I am quite pleased overall with this product and with the Xtool customer service team when I had a problem with the WIFI capability of the machine they were very quick to answer me and work through troubleshooting processes with me and provide me with replacement parts quickly and without any difficulties involved. The tool is durable, well made and easy to use, the Xtool company provides good well made products and great support for their products. I've made at least a dozen items with this and I plan to make dozens more every chance I get.

Need tech know how and design
Make sure you have a computer to set this up to. We put ours outdoors and have a tablet we bring back and forth. It is much easier to operate with a computer. This is so worth the purchase especially as an introduction.

What an INCREDIBLE machine!!
Assembly was fairly easy (watching youtube videos helped). My first project is pictured and it was easy to do and I think the results are super. I've also utilized the rotary assist to engrave stainless tumblers. I highly recommend this laser!

Impressive!
So far it has impressed us. Easy to set up and easy to run. We’ve been engraving aluminum and stainless steel with no issues.

Non-existant customer service
EDITED: I purchased this several months ago, it worked great until I needed it for customer ordered items. 4 days ago it started acting up. I upgraded to the latest software and firmware and it is still not able to produce legible burns. I have emailed and texted the customer "support" (in air quotes because it DOES NOT EXIST) for help. I did not receive customer support until I posted my review here. Then Alex from their store reached out to me and has been EXTREMELY helpful in resolving my machine's issues. He (they) have provided very good service, replying to all of my emails in a timely manner.

Excellent produit

DEFECTIVE PRODUCT... NOW WHAT??
Purchased to do small engraving jobs at our shop. We had ran other laser at previous jobs with no problems. Unit set up was straight forward, but after about 8 or 10 projects the belt system that runs laser stop working ?? Oh and by the way 24 days after return period with amazon... WTF.... how do I get warranty?? Start the process of calling or finding a number to call... NOT HAPPY..... REALLY... !!!

Replacement parts should be added to store page.
Find myself in a situation where I now have a broken timing belt, and it's damn near next to impossible to find a replacement belt. Website has the replacement kit, but you're stuck buying everything in the kit for a belt that's worth ~$13. No where on amazon sells specifically a '1110 2gt closed loop timing belt' and to try and find one locally or even within an hour travel distance is like pulling teeth. Orders backing up now for my business and no where to turn. Was great when it worked though!
