I have a 60 lb lap dog that plays too much! She will tackle you at the door and lick you til you're waterlogged. Frankly, that's great for me, but not for when my mom or a stranger visits, hence the need for this trainer. After scouring reviews for a good device I settled on the Modus and so far I am impressed. After two uses and making sure to say NO each time, my dog immediately paused and you could see her wheels turning. Now when I say NO at different times even without the trainer, she already responds more appropriately. I'm sure I will have to use it periodically, but the results so far are very encouraging.Now fair warning: this is like blasting an air horn to a dog. It will scare them to death but it WON'T hurt them. However DO NOT overuse it. The first time or two, they will probably shiver and tuck tail like you would if someone blasted an air horn at you that you didn't expect. This is when you show ENCOURAGEMENT to calm then down, while fixing the behavior. This is NOT a panic button. It is a trainer - for you AND your pet!

Used for training dog to stop barking continuously and wouldn't stop.Used device for 1 week,and dog now shuts-up when told to.Would recommend device strongly to anybody.

My dog barks. A lot. He barks at people, animals, inanimate objects, the door bell. For the past year he's taken to barking when my phone rings and will not stop until I end the call. As I'm hard of hearing my phone conversations are difficult to say the least.I came upon this product by accident and decided to give it a go.It arrived a day or so ago and I waited for a phone call. As soon as he started to bark I pressed the button to activate the device. Instant, and I mean instant, cessation of barking. That's it. Used it once and once only. Now if he looks as if he's building up to a barking session, I pick the device up and let him see it. He just lies down at my feet and dozes. Reward him in whichever way you see fit.For me and my dog this product works brilliantly. Whether that's the case with all dogs, who knows? It's working for me and selfishly that's all that matters.Funnily enough although the frequency of the sound emitted is beyond human hearing, when you are wearing hearing aids that doesn't apply.

I received the unit today and within ten minutes had a chance to use it. My boxer and min-pin go nuts barking every time someone walks in front of our house walking their dog. Sure enough, a guy walked by with his dog, and they started barking. I pressed the button and they both stopped immediately - looking all around like “what the heck was that?!” I said “Hush” as I pressed the button and when they stopped immediately I lavished praise on both. A few minutes later, another person walked by with a dog and they looked up, gave a very low “Grrr” and NO bark! I praised them immensely. I am truly amazed. Hopefully this will continue to work, but I am sure the training needs to be consistent - using a one word comman like ‘hush” and lavishing praise when they stop or don’t bark. I’ll update my review if there is anything to change in my initial reaction.

From the very start it worked on two small dogs who like to bark at other dogs and when people come. I press the button and release very quickly....just a split second....but make sure they are watching me pointing it at them. After a few times....and they really do stop the moment they hear it.... they even stopped when I picked it up. Now I just show it to them and it has this instant "Uh Oh " moment without even pressing the button. Wish it would work on my husband !!!!
