Hydrochloric acid is one of those things that scares people when you tell them you're taking it, but it's been one of the most life-changing supplements for me overall. I have been taking a different HCL supplement with each meal for nearly ten years. It helped stop a lifetime of severe stomach pain, gas, bloating, and terrible acne. I don't personally have acid reflux, so I don't use HCL for that purpose.This stuff is strong. I would like to gently suggest that if you are new to HCL, proceed carefully. I had previously been taking a 650mg "high potency" product, but this one is much stronger. Too much acid can burn my stomach and create more problems. I only take HCL with full protein/fat meals -- never with small snacks or veggies only. I ate a bunch of chicken nuggets and half an avocado and some brazil nuts with just one pill of this product (the recommended dose is two pills) and I could feel a warm acid feeling in my stomach from this product that I usually only feel if I've taken too much HCL. So this MIGHT be too strong for some folks. I'm giving it 5 stars anyway, because it works, but if you're someone who eats small meals, or not much fat/protein it might be just way too high a dose. I'll be sure to use this only for my biggest, densest meals. And just one pill for me!The pills are small and easy to swallow. They don't have any disagreeable odor, and they seemed to dissolve/become active in my stomach quickly. The current price of $22 for 120 pills is an average price for this type of product. This would last me perhaps 1.5 months, if used at every large meal.

***As always with health related items, please keep in mind that everyone's needs are different and a health professional should be consulted whenever possible prior to introducing a new supplement into your regimen***I've been working with my doctor to find supplements that may provide relief for hEDS, MCAS, POTS, etc. My gastrointestinal symptoms have worsened over the years, with GERD being a rather unpleasant part of my evenings. I was shocked to learn that this issue may be due to lack of acid, rather than a surplus.Betaine HCL was one of the supplements she recommended to try. Again, please do your research, as stomach acid additions may cause issues for some (peptic ulcers + B HCl = No, for example).Thus far since I began taking this with dinner, revenge of the undigested food has only happened once. Particularly when lying down, even with a wedge pillow, I was previously experiencing multiple instances of this nightly. I still have some regular reflux, but I'm hopeful this product may alleviate some discomfort.I'll update this review if needed with further use. Hope this helps!Update 3/23/23: I have reordered this! Definitely assists with reducing my nighttime GERD "backwash." Don't love the smell of the capsules, but worth it for even the tiniest bit of relief.

I'm am an avid believer and user of supplements, but reviewing them is problematic, and my results may not be your results for these reasons:1) I am not a laboratory scientist, I do not play one on tv, nor do I know one, so who knows what’s exactly contained in them.2) It is difficult for consumers to see any actual difference in how you feel within a few days to a couple of weeks. Some supplements take as much as ninety days to see results.3) Even if we do notice a difference, we all take other meds or supplements that may affect our results one way or the other.4) We all have different physiologies, and are just different in so many ways (lifestyles etc). But we can hope for the best when we see others having positive actions going on, that are attributed to said supplements.So my personal non doctor opinion of my own results:Easier on my system than probiotics

I ordered these because I have suffered wit GERD for the better part of a decade, and I was looking for something to take in conjunction with my baking soda tablets (which also help with heartburn for those who didn’t know.) and so far, I like these.I don’t have nearly as many breakthrough heartburn episodes in between baking soda tablet doses, these pills are not too large or too small which makes them easy to swallow and there is no funky taste or aftertaste to contend with which is nice, especially for me because I have a very overactive gag reflex.As always you should consult a medical professional if you have any health concerns upon taking this, but for me? So far so good.5 stars ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ ⭐

I liked this hcl. I have been using replacement stomach acid to help me digest my food for a few years and have tried many brands. This stands up to some of the more expensive brands and is still free of unnecessary additives. Would buy again.

Balance the stomach's PH is so important to improve your digestion. This betaine will help to digest your meals, especially proteins, this would be awesome improving your metabolism and wellness like it’s helping me.I take 1 capsule with every meal, specially with dense food.For me is easy to swallow and don’t feel any taste.

Betaine hcl is a necessity in our home. It helps with indigestion. We like this brand. It works well. It has a good expiration date. The capsules are easy to swallow. I really like the flip-top cap also.
