Even better with a little modification.
This is a great gate lock for 12v gates. I used it to replace a gate lock on my Mighty Mule, so I didn't need the circuit board that came with the lock. The latch mechanism isn't nearly as strong or secure from tampering as most other locks, but certainly sufficient to keep the gate from blowing open and secure enough to keep honest people honest. The actual latch, though, was problematic. Like other non-magnetic locks, there is a fixed rod attached to the gate post and when the gate closes the latch locks behind this fixed rod. The latch, though, is V shaped, so when closed, especially in windy conditions, the rod can become trapped in the notch of the V. That prevents the latch from retracting.I added a small steel plate to the latch (by cutting a groove with a dremel on one side of the aluminum latch and using JBweld epoxy). It's worked like a champ every since!

Working well on GTO dual opener
The hardest part of the install is figuring out the wiring. Also this latching mechanism really needs to be on the left gate. I installed it on the right gate and the wire access hole is pointing upward where water will probably get in. The wiring for a GTO gate maybe direct. In my case I didn't need the adapter board. I did have to put a jumper on my gate controller though. There is actually a painted on wire indicator on the control board itself showing where the jumper goes. It was a little hard to figure that out in the manual didn't really say it.I had no trouble with the latch mechanism catching or not engaging. It always pulls back even if there's a little bit of pressure on the gate. I don't see any issue at all with needing to make modifications to the brackets or to the latch. The gates I have are from tractor supply. They are metal farm gates and I put the latch mechanism on one side and the glass on the other. I used rev nuts in the metal but you could easily just drill holes and use the long bolts.

Seems to be Built Well but Shipped to me in Unusable Shape.
Update (original review below):Received my refund and ordered the new lock. I'm not sure the previous lock was used after receiving this one. They ship the lock with the key IN the lock. Why would anyone do this? The lock is inside a bubble wrap bag and in a cardboard box. The lock I just received had the key sticking up out of the lock and had ripped thru the bubble wrap and was bent over in the lock but not broken at least this time. So my guess is with the first lock it got banged around in shipping moving thru all the terminals and conveyor belts and that's how the key got broke off in the lock. So it may be a roll of the dice if you get a usable lock just based on how gentle your shipper is and how close you are to the warehouse they ship from. Easily solved if they just took the key out and threw it in the box instead of shipping it with the key sticking straight up out of the lock! The lock again looks like it's pretty decent quality, I'll get it installed and Update if I have any other issues with the lock.Received a previously used or returned item as the key was broke off in the lock and it is unusable. Waiting for Amazon to issue a refund and I will try to reorder. Unfortunately, it will be another week before it shows up and I'm in the middle of my gate install today so puts me in a real bind. I will update my review when I receive the replacement and can install and test it out. So far I'm impressed with the build quality, and Unimpressed with the customer service/qc before shipping out a broken item.

weak sloppy poorly made junk
where do i start with this pile of trash?first off any idiot could bypass it in 5 seconds or less!!!the plastic end caps are loose enough to almost fall out revealing the ease of pushing the lock slide in effortlessly!the pin is a JOKE, the pin for this is roughly 5mm, the slot for said pin is over 10mm, so the amount of slop you have is CRAZY meaning your gate is going to rattle and flop around like a fish!?!?!?!?the lock plunger is WEAK JOKE!!!!the lock slide is not solid but V cut so when it does lock in the pin is allowed to jamb up behind the slide resulting in the unit not being able to openstep 1 throw the 5mm pin away and replace with 10mm pin this cures the slop as well as the ability to get the pin stuck behind the pull slide....HOWEVER this is when you realize that even the slightest breeze on the gate is enough to keep the plunger from sliding the lock!!!this unit is WEAK too weak to even be sold and considered a "lock"....the unit works so long as its in a sterile dust free environment under perfect controlled situations....DO NOT EXPECT THIS TO WORK IN THE REAL WORLD
