This is the first time in my life that I have been happy to admit that I "cut the cheese." My husband and I wanted to host a wine and cheese soirée, and so I turned to Amazon to find some necessary tools to make the evening fool-proof. I needed a Gouda cheese slicer for just a little Cheddar. This elegant cheese slicer was right in our price range, so we decided to purchase it and to debut it at our party. My husband loved the modern, stainless steel design and it is so user friendly, I almost Camembert it. I very pleased that this helpful tool wasn't too large to tuck away in our limited cabinet space until the next time that we need it. It felt sturdy in hand, but light enough to carry with a block of cheese on top of it in one hand and a glass of red wine in the other.OK. Enough of the cheesy jokes...It came assembled except for the cheese slicing wire that needed to be slid into place, and also came with 4 replacement wires for future uses. Sliding the wire into place proved challenging at first as the wire needs to be very taught in order to cleanly and easily slice the cheese. I found it easiest to use a pair of needle-nose pliers to pull the wire into the appropriate slot in the handle. Clean up was very simple and I have not had a problem with water spots, which I was concerned about as it is made of stainless steel. It cut through cheese with ease, leaving me great control in making each slice a uniform thickness. It was a hit with my guests and has proved useful even after the party. I have used this slicer to slice perfect pats of butter for breakfast toast, and even to cut ice box cookie dough so that all of my cookies baked even. If I were to ever need another cheese slicer, I would surely purchase this one, again.

Works well on firm cheeses but leaves a small pile of cheese shreds on the surface underneath so it needs to be used on a washable surface. It also creates a small wave in the cheese brick regardless of how tight the cutting wire is but still does the job. Cleans up well in the dishwasher

Cheap made in China garbage. Poorly assemble, all but 1 of the wires are very bent up. The wires are to weak and fall out after a few cuts. The cutting arm was extremely lose and the screws that hold the arm in place are already partly stripped.

I bought this thinking it'd allow me to make nice even slices as pictured in their photo, but the wire can't handle anything harder than soft brie!

cuts the slice just the size we want...only fault is needing to get under the lip on the reverse side...but not a major flaw...worth buying

This is yet another installment in my cheese slicing saga.If the cheese fits it works great. Love the extra wires. You can cut very fine with this is the wire is tight and you are patient.I just wish it had a big brother.

The base had a lot of sharp edges on the bottom. I had to file them down. It is very light weight so you have to hang on to it when slicing cheese.
