SteedaClutch Assist Spring, 35 lb/in, Steel, Black, Ford Mustang 2015-16, Each

Direct fit onto my 2017 GT 350, it provided a comfortable feel in both daily driving and performance applications.

Installed on my 18 GT350. If you are on the fence about this, you will not regret it. The stock system uses two springs to assist in depressing the clutch and returning to the top. This causes inconsistent feel when trying to use the friction point of the clutch for slow maneuvers because it goes from super light and almost pulling away from your foot, to heavy and trying to return to the top; and it happens right at the friction point! Clutch pedal effort becomes marginally heavier, about equal to a stock focus st, with linear feel the entire way. Install is easy and takes minutes with the correct tool. Most vise grips, even needle nose, have jaws too thick to fit in between the spring coils. Get your thinnest needle nose, push down the clutch with your hand and compress the coils together enough to relieve some tension and slide the bottom of the assembly to the right off it’s pedestal. Remove the dual springs from the old keepers and install the new. The new spring is thinner and longer so it’s easier to compress; I recommend lightly clamping the coils with the visegrips as you line it up, and once it’s partially slid on the pedal assembly diagonally, push up with your hand against spring tension so you can push the assembly the rest of the way into position. At $20, this is one mod that is a no brainer. On the off chance you don’t like it, there are no permanent modifications and reverting to stock is quick.

Definitely improves feel for 1-2 shifting. Clutch push feels about the same, big difference is on release. Haven't noticed any problems with higher gear shifting at regular or during aggressive runs - but something I will pay more attention to.As mentioned, installation was easy/fast - picture shows method I used and comparison to the new spring. A pair of needle nose vise grips comes in handy. Compress the spring and depress the clutch all the way, then remove. The Steeda spring can be compressed and installed by hand. Stock perches can be reused no problem. Trick is not to torque the perches during stock spring removal to avoid breaking them.

Installing this spring was one of the absolute first things to do for a newly purchased Mustang. They weren't lying. Not sure why I waited 7 months to put this in. I can't really explain the science, but this makes changing gears sooo much easier and smoother. Enormous difference and increases enjoyment of driving. The stock clutch spring is annoying.

Part arrived early. Easy install and perfect fitment. Took all of about 5 minutes to get the old one out and the new one in.

I bought this due to others recommending it and WOW is all I can say, now I feel exactly when the throwout bearing engages

I was hesitant for a couple years to buy this because I thought there was no way a little spring could make such a difference. Boy was I wrong. Normal shifts are smoother now and launching is improved by having better feel through the clutch pedal.
