This a fun book! I love cats but have little drawing ability. I still need practice but I was able to create recognizable doodles. There is a bit of information at the beginning about tools, colors, and patterns. Then the cute drawings start. I think when it comes to drawing this book is really unique in that it focuses on how to draw one specific animal but in “101” creative ways that think outside the box. This book also isn’t just a “how to draw cats” book it teaches drawing techniques, the color wheel, tools and materials, and more. It starts out with an introduction that emphasizes the book is meant to give you a place where you can relax and get creative.The following pages focus on what kinds of tools or materials you may need throughout this book such as pencils, markers, pens, crayons, erasers, sketch books, etc.. Next is line techniques, how to draw patterns, strokes, and colors. It really emphasizes to start with the basics and the beginning pages can be a good learning tool for a person of any age beginning to draw. Finally, we get into the “fun stuff” which is how to’s, prompts, coloring, and drawing. My personal favorite was the prompts and trying to be creative to draw cats in ways you’ve never seen cats before like inside of broccoli or in the shape of a cactus.This book is just great for any beginner artist or cat lover in your life. I would consider to be for anyone 7+ but honestly I’m an adult and had just as much fun as the kids coming up with ideas. Mayo does a great job to keep this book full of content and interesting to the very end.

The pictures in this book are so stinking cute. Our daughter, who loves to draw, absolutely loves this book and hasn't stopped learning how to draw the cats in this. My only complaint would be about the price. At $18 it's a little much for a how-to book.

There is something calming about drawing cats from Lulu Mayo's "101 Super Cute Cat Things to Draw: Draw, doodle, and color a plethora of purrfectly pawsome felines and quirky cat mash-ups (101 Things to Draw)". I am getting better at my art skills, but I honestly still struggle at the cute stuff that just makes me smile when I see it on a page. That's why I buy stickers so much.Anyway, I selected this book out of curiosity and I'm having so much fun with it. The steps are illustrated without much text so that might bother some people, but it worked out for me. It is mostly cats but there is a bit of everything. My favorite, so far, are the cat loafs. I once got a small memo pad with cat loaves on them and I loved it so being able to draw them delights me.I loved this book so much that I ordered another book from this author. I am very glad that I selected this book.
