Glad I Bought the MSA Safety Works Full Face Shield
'm so glad I bought this face shield. I had a new pole saw and eagerly read the manual to prepare myself for using this (surprisingly) dangerous tool. I had a lot of tree pruning to do to lower the level of risk of forest fire across my land and thought even a septuagenarian with a little arm strength would be able to use it. But I followed the manual's directions and bought the MSA Safety Works Face Shield, which arrived just two days later. This is a first rate face shield. It took me a while to begin to use the shield raising feature. At first I had it screwed down too tight, and the mask would fall off my head, rather than pivoting up as it is made to do. Then I experimented with the knob and began to take advantage of this helpful feature. I do think it would be even easier if I dispensed with the hats, but the Fall rains have come, the temp is usually 40degrees or below, and the branches need to be cut now in order to safely burn them once the ground is sufficiently covered in snow.1. I followed the suggestions to first remove the plastic sheets from both sides of the shield piece.2. I followed the steps provided with the shield and had it assembled in a couple minutes.3. I adjusted the headband a couple times, realizing that it needed to be looser to be worn over a wool stocking hat. On the very coldest day I wore the wool hat all day; on warmer days I exchanged it for a baseball cap, and tightened the headband to keep it securely on my head.4. In 3 days time not a piece of wood has yet flown up to strike the face shield, but I take the warnings seriously and will continue to wear it.5. During those same days, each day I encountered eye-height dead evergreen tree branches, and vine ends, just waiting to poke into my eye or scratch my face, and I'm so happy to report that none of them got past the face shield, leaving my face unscratched.I also have worn the shield while driving my tractor mower on this rural treed property, saving me from many a strike by unruly branches I might not see when focused on the grassy ground or something else. It is much more comfortable than wearing a binding eyeglass goggle that puts so much tension over my glasses. If ever a branch or tree starts shooting wood pieces towards my face I'll also wear safety googles underneath the shield. The clincher for me in deciding to buy this shield is their statement: "Meets ANSI/ISEA Z87.1-2010 general and high impact protector requirements."

Mask is CLEAR & well designed!
*Please see attached photos*To clear up things that other reviewer's have complained about, you actually CAN see through the mask clearly. There is a layer of protective film on each side of the mask. One side has a green film, one side has a clear film. They were very easy to remove once I could find their edges. In defense of the other reviewers, it was really hard to tell there was a film on both sides and the packaging does not clarify that. The mask fits very comfortably and each piece adjusts with ease. At the top of the headband there is an adjustable strap to adjust the height. The knob at the back of the headband allows the wearer to adjust the width *while* wearing the mask so you can either fit it securely to your head while in use and then can easily remove it when the job is complete. Nice feature! The side knobs (just above the ears) help to easily adjust and lock the position of the mask so that it can be worn inclined, proclined, or parallel to the face.I definitely recommend this mask for the price!(Don't forget to wear protective eyewear as well!)

MSA Safety Works 641817021569 Full-Face Shield
This MSA face shield seems decently made for what it cost. The flip up mechanism for the clear polycarbonate full-face shield has two adjustable tension knobs and holds its position like it's supposed to. The suspension has a foam cushioned forehead pad and ratcheting adjustment knob that locks to maintain its position. The green upper visor piece is made of hard plastic and the suspension headband is made from a flexible vinyl material. The face shield itself is replaceable and meets the ANSI Z87.1-2010 standard so is good for general purpose protection. I frequently wear this face shield along with safety glasses when using a bench grinder to help keep flying sparks and detached wire wheel bristles away from my face, neck and eyes. I also recommended adding a snap-on hardhat sweatband over the stock foam forehead pad for extra comfort, especially if you'll be wearing this face shield for an extended time.

Why would anyone create a product like this? Edited: why do people write negative reviews before checking things out thoroughly?
I am going to leave my original review below this one for instructional and entertainment purposes. I was very tired when I opened this package, and I really should have waited before I made a review of it. In my defense, there is nothing on the packaging to indicate that there is a plastic film that must be removed from the face shield before using it. The film that was on my shield was attached quite seamlessly and it wasn't evident at all that it could be removed until I started scratching at it. I retract my original review, this does look like a quality product, but maybe a small notification somewhere on the package for people like me who have never actually bought something like this before would be a good idea. The photograph of this product and the description indicate a clear plastic face shield, yet I received a green, almost opaque shield that is impossible to see through to do the work that I need this face shield for. Why would anyone create a product like this?

Works well
Since I ware glasses, using goggles has proved difficult due to fogging. This does not fog and has solved that problem for me.Sometimes I use this in conjunction with the MSA Safety Works Advantage 200 LS Half-Mask Respirator. While in the wood shop I have not had anything fly in to my face yet, with the weed-wacker this gets dirty rather quickly from all of the debris. The only issue I have are the tabs that hold the clear plastic in place, somehow they keep moving off in the wrong position and I have to realign them. I have not had any cracks. I wish there was an option to put a thicker plastic shield on it.
