Construction - when this was first designed, I reviewed old Lane Hope chests and also toy boxes from my line of children's furniture and determined that most lids had poor hinges, so we put on three L hinges which have 5 screws each hinge connecting to the main frame, and three screw on each hinge connecting to the top. We then reinforced the top with three - 1" high, 1" wide and 14" inch long cletes perpendicular to the four foot top so it can be used as a bench. Two piston dampeners were then provided to slow the lid from slamming down on fingers. Four holes were then put in the bottom in case kids get the wise idea of putting their sibling in there.
