The Barclay James Harvest Story
I**H
As close to the horse's mouth as we're going to get!
Keith and Monika Domone's long association with BJH is legendary, and given that 2 of BJH are, sadly, no longer with us, the authors of this are the nearest thing we are ever going to get to an autobiography of probably the second most underrated band there is (Cock Robin, if you are interested!).Another reviewer has compared this with "Long Distance Voyager" the equivalent books (2 parts, you see) for the Moody Blues, and while the comparison is logical, for many reasons (which is why I have both this and those) it seems he doesn't like the Moody Blues books. Shame, for they are very good, the first maybe lingers too much on chart history, particularly the US history, the second book has an editor and thus that, and typos, have been addressed more successfully. This book doesn't get bogged down in that detail so much, but is similarly thorough, well researched and informative, without ever getting boring or bogged-down.In short, if you have the Moodies books, and like them, or if you're a BJH fan in anything more than a passing way, this book is essential, and a fine companion to the "on track...." book by the same authors.

The untold Story of....a classic British band
I am engrossed in this excellent book, telling the Story of BJH. This band was one of my first, best loved bands from the age of 14....when I first was introduced to BJH Live '74..., in 1974 obviously many years ago now!I have always wondered about the beginnings, line up changes, the tragedies and inner thoughts of the band members throughout a long, roller coaster of a career. A very private band, and never the Poor Man's Moody Blues IMO !The book, is clearly a labour of love by Keith and Monika, who have led the fan club over decades, and their love for the band is clear. It is not all a positive, "through a fans rose colored glasses" view though. The authors honest opinions and the band themselves, through fascinating interviews comment on the personal challenges of being in a band and taking wrong directions musically over the years in the fickle music business. This is an excellent read, accurate and full of details I was not aware of! Well done! Highly recommended.RIP. Wooly and Mel.

A Legendary Story.
Finally a Bio of One of Rock's GREATEST BANDS OF ALL TIME! As a BJH fan ( because I listen ) I thoroughly enjoyed reading the story of the four lads & how this band was born up North and their struggles & tribulations over the last 5 decades... Clearly a labor of love by the two authors. Thank you for this book and I sincerely hope you will eventually write a third updated edition to bring the BJH Story up to the present. Respect.

At last.
Missed this twice. Imagine my joy at discovering that it had been reprinted! Concise, beautifully written and engaging. Well done Keith and Monika. I started this after giving up on Marc Cushman's appalling Moody Blues attempts. It was a great relief that the BJH Story outclasses his nonsense in every way.
