One of the best lids for fermentation
This is a high quality product. When I first started fermenting I wanted to see the bubbles so I used air locks. But once you're over that you can slap one of these on and get the same or better results. Great product! And much simpler than air locks.

These work great but: Do NOT sterilize these in heat. Or very hot water.
These work well. But wash by hand, do not expose to the heat in your dishwasher. Rinse really well (of course). They will warp in high temps. Don't know how high but i'm not going to experiment to find out. Warm water with mild dish detergent and that's all. I lost all of mine and had to re-order. Why did I buy them again? Because these work well. and that little vacuum pump? That thing is great. It creates a vacuum inside the jar and a LOT of bubbles come up to the top from down under. Gets a LOT of oxygen out of the fermenting environment. I make kim chi in half gallon masons. and getting the air out is critical to a good, successful ferment. I also use other things to keep the veggies down under the liquid (like those silicon disks and those metal springs that Ball makes.

They Really Are Easy
These are really great lids. Could not be easier to use: just screw onto the top of the jar and, for the most part, forget about it. No need to monitor water levels or anything like that, which I love.Today I learned another reason to love these vs. traditional airlocks. One of my ferments got a bit too active and filled up the entire jar. The rubber gasket got right out of the way, pressure did not build, and my jar did not explode. A small mess to clean up, but no big deal. And on that note, cleaning is very simple as well. The gasket easily comes out so you can make sure there are no food particles or other debris as in the case of my overflowing ferment. All in all, great purchase. I recommend buying these and some BIG jars. (Turns out quart sized is not quite enough!)

quality
We went on a fermentation kick a while back and burping jar lids was a pain, so we bought these. What a difference!

I use as vacuum seal more than fermenting!
I got these as I was desiring more flexibility in being able to vacuum seal foods for my fridge. They work most of the time (definitely great on fermenting) & make it nice that I can prepare large portions that I can vacuum seal & place in the fridge to eat over the next week or so! Everything lasts longer with vacuum seal. The nice thing: you can have smaller portions than most other vacuum seal containers as they fit on the wide mouth jars of any size. I recommend having a fair amount of these if you plan to use them as fermenting & vacuum seal preserving.

Works as described
I have no complaints. The seal is good and my fermentation experiments have worked perfectly with this product. I recommend it.

I ACTUALLY BOUGHT AND PAID FOR THESE! THEY'RE WONDERFUL!
I just got into fermentation and saw these as an elegant and easy solution to the complex problem of providing the perfect environment for for the fermentation process. This company also provides a great online "How To" guide for beginners. I also bought several books and dove right in. I also got some glass weights.Got my jar, lids, and weights ready, put in my beets and apple slices and brine with my Nourished Essentials lid and a week later it was the perfect ph and bubbly and DELICIOUS!I really encourage anyone who has an interest in making your own ferments to try these lids! They solve every problem you could have fermenting stuff! I love them! Also, the support from them is beyond and above. Gavin answered all my questions and sent me a replacement lid because I was missing a gasket!!! Amazing! Thank You!

So far all are coming out great!
One of our best purchases on Amazon!Found this recipe online on google and used it to make our jars. We followed that recipe first time and then added a little more salt than recipe said next time. Then another time to appeal to our taste we then added a tiny bit of red pepper flakes, for a little heat to experiment with flavors...and turned out great. You can make tiny jars with more salt to see if you like it better after following recipe to see what the recipe produces. FYI, the grape leaf or oak leaf is vital to keep it crunchy due to the tannins. Don't ever skip it, it's key!Just to be successful first time, we over sanitized, we bought fresh sour kraut for juice to use or you can go to Whole Foods, sells sour kraut juice only in cold section.Recipe I used copied from google..."Fermented Cucumbers Recipe:Recipe to easily transform cucumbers into probiotic rich fermented pickles without any sogginess.Prep Time 10 minutesServings 2 quartsInstructions:Slice cucumbers and set aside. Be sure to discard the slice with the blossom ends as this is where enzymes are located that can contribute to soggy bitter pickles.Place garlic cloves, dried bay leaves, and fresh oak, bay or grape leaves at the bottom of a clean 1/2 gallon mason jar.Place sliced cucumbers on top of seasonings. Mix sea salt, liquid whey or sauerkraut juice with the quart of water (or a water/vinegar mixture if you prefer a more vinegar flavor to your pickles) into the fermentation brine water and carefully pour over the top of the cucumbers.Leave about an inch at the top of the jar and screw on the lid. Add optional fermentation weights to keep cucumbers beneath the surface of the water. This will help prevent mold.Leave fermented cucumbers on the counter for 2 days. After 2 days, remove one cucumber slice with a clean fork and taste. If it is crunchy and pleasantly sour, then refrigerate. Your pickles are done. If not, leave on the counter for another day, tasting each additional day to determine when the pickles taste pleasantly sour and are yet are still crunchy. If there is a lot of mold with long tendrils down into the water, the batch has not taken properly. Discard and try again using more starter and/or vinegar with your next batch or use fermentation weights as a preventative."Search more recipes and tips on google...

Easy.
Good lids, fits a pump I already had. Makes fermenting easier, as you can remove atmosphere from the space above the vegetables
