Great in a pinch
If you need an extra 1x PCI Express slot and only have a wifi/AE-key M.2 slot available, this works well in a pinch. Don't need external power unless you plan to use the USB port.

Will work with USB. Not sure about pcie
It works really well with a USB slot when you use the outer power. However, the pcie X1 slide does not show sign of Life. However, I am debating whether I should keep testing or not. I would definitely recommend this on a desktop but not a laptop

worked great to add pcie card to laptop.
I used this to add a second pcie nic to a laptop and it worked great. Didn't need the power adapter for my nic.
