Very well made, would definitely recommend
Very well made, very well engineered, even with the generous powder-coating the pieces still have a machined fit. There's even rubber o-rings on the inside of both pieces to keep them from rattling around as much that should have been included in the description, a very nice little extra. I drilled a hole through the star bit included so I could put it on the same key loop as the tonue cover keys and spare truck key so it'll never get lost. The threads aren't fine thread so unless you torque the screw down a little or use a tiny bit of blue thread locker (I did both) it may vibrate loose, just FYI. This sub-fifty-dollar purchase will probably save me having to buy a five-hundred tailgate one day.

Great little piece of kit!
It came quick and went on easily. I recommend doing it when it’s warmer than 50*. The small rubber o-ring makes the fitment very tight, adding some oil to it will allow it to slip on easier, when it’s cold out it contracts and becomes too tight to fit, making it a small pain. All in all it’s great and keeps thieves from walking away with my Tailgate.

Easy to install, great quality and is hopefully doing to job it is supposed to!
I purchased this for my husband's 2014 toyota tacoma since he was parking in a rougher area at night. There were reports of tailgates being stolen and we wanted to hopefully deter someone from taking ours. I do not believe there have been any attempts so i cannot comment to if it actually works. From the looks of it, i think it will work well.

No instructions come with the Tailgate Lock???
My review on the SaBellCo 2005-2015 Tailgate Lock - Anti-Theft Locking Device v2.0 - Black -For Toyota Tacoma 2015.I own a 2015 Toyota Tacoma SR5 Access Cab. The tailgate is easily stolen if you don't put some sort of locking device on the tailgate hinge. So I ordered SaBellCo 2005-2015 Tailgate Lock the cost was about $40. That was way above the cost of other similar devices. But the fit-and-finish looked very good so I ordered it. When is a rhyme was in very good condition it was in good Packaging but there were no installation instructions. But there was a QR code and website with an installation video. But like most alpha males I figured I could do this myself. And I tried several times and I couldn't get the tailgate lock on the tailgate hinge? So then I went to see the installation video. And figure it out why I couldn't install the tailgate lock. I try it again to install the tailgate lock and this time it worked!!! So if you buy this you got to watch the installation video. so once I got the tailgate lock on it looks great and it makes it really difficult to take off with my tailgate. So my two issues why I only gave it four stars was that cost it should be cheaper, and you really need to see the installation video to understand how to put it in that's it. it just saved my tailgate!
i know this is a late review and it seems this lock is no longer available, but i just had to share this.i bought this lock back in March of 2020 as a rash of tailgate thefts was going through my area. installed it immediately, fitment was tight, i actually had to grid down the outside of the rings where they fit up close to the tailgate. but it went on without a fight.fast forward to this weekend (Easter weekend 2022) and this thing just saved my tailgate! the attempted thief disconnected the back up camera, unhooked the tailgate cables, and then got a rude awakening. my tailgate is still on my truck because of this lock!these need to be back in stock and every second gen Tacoma owner needs one!

MANY Problems
Once installed, this will probably slow down tailgate thieves. Thus endith the good news.First, don't even THINK about installing this on a gravel driveway. You WILL drop the special bit/tip at least 6-8 times and unless you have a strong bar magnet, count on spending considerable time on your knees picking through the stones until you find the bit...again and again.Second, the YT installation video makes installation look easy to the point of being a non-issue. This is true if you're the company owner and have done this hundreds or thousands of times. For the rest of us, dust off your cussword vocabulary because you're going to go through it at least twice.Third, the circular openings that slide over the tailgate mounting shaft are so big--even with the factory-installed rubber gaskets--that once installed the device rattles around quite a bit. Yeah, I know, this is a pickup truck, but I expected the fit to be considerably more snug than the parts deliver. During installation I got a laugh out of the YT vid recommending the rubber gaskets be lubricated with a soapy water solution to make it easier to slide over the tailgate mounting shaft. The fit is so loose no lube of any kind is even remotely necessary.Fourth, and again contrary to the YT vid, it is a real chore to hand-start the mounting screw because it's extremely difficult to get and keep the two halves of the device properly aligned. Difficulty is increased by the near-complete absence of space between the screw head and Tacoma metal. I recognize this attribute makes it harder for a thief to remove the screw, but you're going to have an interesting time as well.Fifth, you'll be lucky to have tools appropriate for final tightening the screw. If you're like me, you didn't notice the tools he uses in the YT vid are NOT standard. The ratcheting handle has a much smaller head diameter than the usual handles. His turnbuckle and socket are MUCH shorter and narrower than what you can easily buy in a hardware store. Count yourself lucky if you've got tools that look like his!I got the device installed, but it was FAR more work than illustrated in the YT video and not at all fun. It also rattles once installed, which may or may not be an issue for you.Two things mentioned in the YT vid I agree with and recommend: use red thread locker during installation, and push some epoxy putty into the screw head to make stealing your tailgate far too much work for the standard thief.I've not tried any competing tailgate anti-theft devices so have no comment on how this item compares. If you choose this one, just be prepared for a fight to get it installed.

Works great on my 2014.
After an initial issue with USPS, where they delivered it a street away (and that person dropped it off to me), I've got it in my possession and installed on my 2014 DCSB Tacoma! Installation was easy, and I can't remove the tailgate without removing this device! I had no issues with installation, following Vince's YouTube Video, and his customer service was prompt and on point.Youtube video title: (it's not letting me post the direct link in the review)SaBellCo 2005-2015 Toyota Tacoma Tailgate Lock - Anti-Theft Locking Device
