Discraft Buzzz Elite Z Golf Disc

My son in law is a devotee of the work hard-play hard life philosophy. On the work hard side, there is very little he doesn't purchase for himself or his family that one of them wants or needs. That makes affordable gift giving to him a challenge for me. Fortunately, on the play hard side, he loves disc golf. Also fortunate for me is that disc golfers apparently lose discs almost as frequently as traditional golfers lose golf balls. So this disc was one of several I gave him for Christmas, and even though I somehow missed that this one is labeled as a basic disc for beginners, which he is absolutely NOT, he likes it, and it has been added to his bag.

I am a beginner. I read a lot of reviews that this was a great beginner disc. Sadly, I was not able to get good distance or accuracy with Buzzz right away. It did not feel good in my hand. It has not made my bag on game day. Also, HATE the color they sent me - green. UPDATE: As my technique improves, I am throwing it a bit better. Still way prefer my 4-5 Leopard discs for sure, but if I continue to improve with Buzzz, maybe there is hope for a future where I like to throw it??? I will always hate the green color!

So when I started playing I searched the internet for best beginner discs. The Buzzz almost always showed on every list for best beginners midrange, so I got one in Z line plastic. To me the Buzzz is a little overstable for an absolute beginner, at least in this plastic. I'm sure it is less stable in base plastic. Obviously the Buzzz is one of the most popular midrange discs in the world, but if you are a beginner, go with something less stable like the SOL. I have 3 Buzzz discs, the Z line, a Z Flex SS and a Tour Series SS. Honestly none of them are currrently in my bag. I much prefer a Comet to the Buzzz. I get a much straighter flight out of the Comet and even the SOL if you power down a tad.

As described, my go to mid-range it is very straight with little fade.

Got this disc after reading so many positive reviews. On my first outing, I wasn't impressed, as I didn't do any better with it than my other putter or approach discs. Today I decided to give it a second chance, hoping that with some experience under my belt I would have better luck. Wow! I am super impressed! On my first hole I hit a putt that I would normally make maybe 1 in 10 times (that's being generous). Of course, maybe it's just a lucky shot. 2nd hole, another mid-range putt that is totally doable that I would normally just miss, and it goes in. By the end of the round I had probably hit 6 putts I would normally miss because they were further back than the give-me range of 10-15 feet or so. My last hole I would never make, and I sunk it. I did a rough measurement by walking it off and it was about 85 feet. I can only hope today wasn't some kind of anomaly and I can keep putting this well with the buzzz. I've never seen a disc have such a big impact on my game as today.

If I was going to recommend only one disc for someone new to disc golf and wanting to try it out it would be this one. While it is a mid range disc it can fill other roles decently well. If you are a newbie skip the overpriced starter sets and just buy one of these.

I'm not great at disc golf, but the buzz has made ot more enjoyable.

I love a good gamble when buying new plastic. Unfortunately, I managed to get a light green colored buzzz so this thing will probs be lost in a bush or tall grass soon. Still recommend getting this for the free shipping.

I really like this disc. I am just learning the proper technique to throw these golf discs(not like a regular Frisbee at all) and this disc flies the best so far.It's one of four that I have and , along with the mid-range disc from the set of three that I purchased, flies the most predictably.

I got into Disc golf about two months ago now and have played five times so far. It is cool! I sure like it and with me having had some things to deal with, well, let's say the walking has been excellent! I think it is a great disc! If you go ahead and buy it, if you don't already have it, you'll enjoy it! See ya!

Got a white color Buzzz, wish they have a lighter weight for beginner, but overall a good mid range.
