Upon first opening this pen, the color jumped out at me. Very bold red with gold accent makes for a fantastic combination. The detailing is very well done and pleasant to look at as well. However, most will be concerned with how it writes. So far, no skips or jumps. The provided converter worked well and flow was immediate after filling (used Noodler's Forestall Gray). The flow is smooth and consistent, with darker spots appearing primarily due to user error.I was going to compare this to my Cross Bailey, but after messing around, I found myself pulling out my Monteverde Invincia to compare instead and found them to be fairly close to one another for comfort and performance. The cap posts well and is secure (adding a nice heft to the otherwise light pen) but I find the light and agile feel of the pen unposted to be more to my tastes, primarily due to the pen not having the girth that the Monteverde has.Overall, a very pleasant pen.

Writes well, beautiful. Cap too tight, no fine nib available
Very nice pen - beautiful, writes well. Wish it had a fine nib. Used Regal prior to this one for over a year until nib broke. Bought this pen and Dryden Precision Collection pen with fine nib - I like Dryden a lot more - it writes much better, feels better, the material looks and feels better, ink flow is better and it is a little cheaper. Unless Regal is your preferred brand for some reason, I would recommend looking at Dryden, Pilot, Waterman, etc.

Don't buy the red - it looks like a cheap plastic pen
Not what I expected. I thought this was a dark burgundy color however it is a bright shinny red that makes it look very cheap.

Beautiful branding hiding a shoddy product. The ink does not get delivered to the page.
Once you open the regal branding, get past the beautiful box, what you find inside is a terrible pen.I am beyond dissatisfied with this product. Take a look at the attached picture and see if you can legibly read the message.I have been using fountain pens for the past 2 years. On this pen I have tried both the default cartridge ink cartridge (where you have to draw the ink into the cartridge), and plastic cartridge. NO SUCCESS. It still writes like you're trying to scratch hieroglyphics onto a stone pyramid. I wanted to love this pen; I really did. I tried to give it time; I looked up YouTube videos to see what was wrong. I tried 2 types of ink cartridges, and fiddled around with it until my hands were black with ink. This product is made with shoddy construction. If I wanted to buy a chisel I'd buy a chisel, not a pen. It scratches the paper and the ink does not get delivered onto the page.To the Regal company: I am never buying from your brand ever again. You just lost a very valuable customer. You say you're making a fountain pen, but it doesn't even draw ink or write on a page like its supposed to. Shame on you. Shame on you for luring customers in with the regal facade, selling them a pen that does not work.

Writes well but the exterior scratches easily
The pen is beautiful; there's no doubt about that. Fountain pens can cost a lot of money; there's also no doubt about that. I gave three stars instead of four or five because the red exterior is very cheap. I do not even know what I did, but the pen is scratched towards the end. I know better than to even try and put the cap on the bottom; I tried that with a previous fountain pen and regretted it. So, even $30 is not expensive for a high quality pen, it is still a lot for a pen. The cost is for the beauty, but you take a hit in the quality of the exterior. As for the writing, it is pretty good. The top of the nib stays stained with ink, but not too bad.

a work of art !
This pen itself is a work of art. For starters, the weight: it's heavy and sturdy and absolutely NOT plastic. So well made and intricate. It came with five ink cartridges, but it also has an empty adapter for adding your own ink. I'm probably never going to do use that, haha. The ink that comes with it is adequate, though not incredibly pigment-rich. The nib need a little bit of breaking in (to be expected), but for the most part was ready to go. No snags or anything. I'm a lefty, so fountain pens often give me a bit of trouble (pens like to be pulled, not pushed) but as long as I wrote at a consistent speed, it didn't give me problems. I will definitely be using this for years to come!

Very smooth and easy to fill
Very smooth and easy to fill. Can use with cartridge or fill up with ink. The grip is a little thin but all in all, well worth the purchase!

Was blown away at first with the quality and feel - but it got a really large chip in the paint from being in the same pocket as my keys for about 1 hour. I'm not sure if I should expect it to resist minor abrasions but for the price I was hoping it was a little more durable than that, maybe a protective coating would've gone a long way.
