I've been using these mirrors for years. It does take a while to learn how to use them - to train your eye to focus on the mirror properly so you can see. It also takes some time before you figure out how best to adjust the mirror so you can see over your shoulder if you turn your head slightly.With that said - these are nice units and a good value. Some people complained about the quality of the mirror - that it was foggy and not clear. They must not realize that there is a protective film on the mirror that needs to be removed before you use it! It's not easy to see - or to get off. So I can understand the oversight. This is one negative about this particular product. Just keep digging on the edges with your fingernail and it'll eventually come up. Then the glass is spotless and clean and you should have no problem with the clarity.I think a lot of the poor reviews on this is because the purchasers don't like the whole concept of this mirror type. It's difficult to use and adjust which can result in people giving up in frustration. I understand that. It's not for everyone. There are other options. I like this design because it's simple and compact. I feel unsafe without it now because I've been using these for so long. If you beat on your gear or throw your helmet around - it probably won't last either. It's light and long and can be broken. But if you like this type of mirror - this is a good option.

The fatal flaw with a non-flat mirror is it has a focal distance. In the case of this mirror, if it's closer than about 18", you'll have to focus in closer (like you're trying to read a book 6" from your face) which means if you try to look through the mirror with one eye only one thing will be in focus at a time. In my case, I can't focus in that close at all, so the mirror image is always blurry. The designer chose a mirror that's really meant for handle-bar distances from the eye.After trying it, I would say a convex mirror is a bad idea for a helmet mounted mirror anyway not only because the extra field of view is unnecessary for a helmet mount, but it makes everything too distorted and small and it's really hard to judge speed and distance of approaching vehicles.Either the distortion or blurriness alone would make this product not great, but in combination it's virtually useless. I gave it one star because younger riders might find the focal issue tolerable (although you still can't focus on the mirror AND where you're going at the same time regardless of age.)In short, for a helmet mirror you should skip this item (and any other item with a convex mirror) and get a regular mirror.

This only fastens to left inside of helmet. Might be better if left outside of helmet were attachment point. Bought end of August 2023. 2 items inside fortunately. One broke irreparably today so I installed the second one. I really like the convex lens giving me wider view of what is behind me. And I like the ball and socket adjustability of the mirror. However the plastic ball and socket is what broke today. Cannot glue it back together. Despite this problem, I need a good mirror so much I'll buy another box containing two mirrors.

I use this mirror on a motorcycle helmet while riding an electric unicycle. I had been using a larger and more costly mirror, but these are so prone to falling off during accidents that I thought I'd "go cheap" this time. It's not as good as the larger mirror, but it's a fraction of the cost, so if it comes off, it's not a big loss. And it serves the purpose reasonably well.

First off the adhesive failed the first time I used it and yes, my surface was clean. The mirrors are strange and have a dark undertone making their reflection a bit murky. The plastic where the adhesive strip is attached is brittle and breaks easily. We've owned several previous versions of these and by far these are the worst. I bought these because of their price and got what I paid for. Buyer beware.
