Cheap, they almost had it right
Good idea, cheap execution. Out of the (slightly damaged) box the cheap hard plastic container had multiple linear cracks. The magnifying seeing glass was scuffed. So I took out the bug catcher either way cause my son was looking forward to this. The catcher doesn't open all the way so hard to catch mobile bugs... And the trap doors are thick so you can't catch bugs on flat/hard surfaces without squashing them. You have to catch them in grass or use the tweezers to put them in the trap. My son loved it, despite the damaged cheap material and design flaws. So I didn't tank the review, but this isn't a set that'll last. So I didn't bother to reorder... Just another return errand I guess.

Fun but arrived broken
Purchased these for my 3 and 5 year olds since they've grown fond of digging up bugs and rocks. This is excellent for that, but the included flash light on one of them is broken. It's a kinetically charged flashlight, but the charging handle was cracked at the hinge for one of them. I opened an exchange with Amazon and got a 3rd kit with... another broken flashlight. What are the odds that 2 out of 3 are broken? I'm not even going to bother returning this one too because it's just become a hassle. The kids are still having fun with the rest of the kit, digging up rolly pollies and dropping them into the containers. I just wish the manufacturer would quality control the flashlights before throwing them into the box.

My great grandson loved it.
My 4 year old great grandson loved the set. It's too bad it didn't have a bigger container for bugs, but he was happy with it. He said the plastic bugs that came with it were his pets because his spider died & he didn't have a pet. It was just a gift but not for a birthday or special occasion. Just a stay connected gift because we haven't been able to be together because of Covid 19. I bought one for my 4 year old grandson, too & he loved it too. My adult granddaughter would have loved this when she was young. Girls love bugs too!
