Keke's Super-Strong Double Hugs

Wonderful story that helps children work through and talk about their feelings related to the pandemic. Keke, the main character, raises many of the questions and feelings children have about the changes happening in their lives during the pandemic. The book also includes resources and suggestions on how to talk with children so they can express and work through their feelings during an experience that can be scary for them. I am a big fan of Steve Musgrave’s work and loved seeing his illustration’s bring this story to life.

I am so grateful to have found this book. Not only does it demystify the big, scariness of the pandemic in a way that’s easy for kids to understand, but it’s also a great tool for adults. I really appreciated the section at the back that includes advice and resources for parents to navigate difficult conversations with our kids. I would definitely recommend this for families, especially if your kids are having anxiety or asking difficult questions.

As a parent of a young child life got exponentially harder during the pandemic-- and then I had to explain it! This book provided such a nice platform for discussing family struggles during quarantine and our shared experiences. The thoughtful resource guide for further reading was especially appreciated. Beautifully illustrated and relatable--I would love to see how the family weathers the pandemic and the lessons they learned.

Keke's Super-Strong Double Hugs is an absolute must for families with young children trying to navigate the pandemic and explain it in a calm way without causing fear. It's also beautifully written and illustrated. I'm going to buy it for all of my friends with young children.
