Works great as a diesel flow switch between high cap tank and factory tank
I'm using this as a flow control switch between my high capacity diesel tank and my factory tank to extend my range. Previously I was having to stop every 400mi to refuel, but by using this and a high capacity tank I can go from NH to FL, with a loaded trailer, without refueling, or by refueling where fuel costs are lower.I mounted this unit on the high capacity tank side, then ran the fuel line from it through a filter to the down pipe going into the factory tank. When the fuel gauge reads 1/4 I turn the switch on, which allows fuel to flow into the smaller tank. Then when the gauge gets near full I shut the switch off stopping the flow.

It just works!
It just works, but does need about 3 amps at 12v to hold it open...

Solid Valve - With a Caveat Regarding Duty Cycle
The build quality of this valve is very good. The biggest concern on my part, though, was the duty cycle. The valve actuates authoritatively at 12 V. Also, at that voltage, the current draw is around 2 A, yielding power dissipation in the valve coil around 24 W. However, if that power level is maintained, the valve becomes quite hot.I've found that if you're able to actuate the valve at 12 V, and then immediately reduce the voltage to 5 V, the valve will stay open reliably. Also, at 5 V, the current draw is only around 800 mA - meaning that the power dissipation at 5 V is only around 4 W.At that power level and at steady state, the valve is only warm to the touch - not hot.I can't speak to the durability of the valve yet, but I suspect that the coil can remain energized indefinitely at 5 V holding voltage.
