Comparison tested
So got two 1 qt mason jars with oz markings on side so could watch the coffee drip. Put this filter on top of one jar, a disposable paper filter in plastic holder on top of other jar. Boiled 1 cup of water in each of 2 identical pots, pulled off flame at same time and 1 pot in each hand poured water thru coffee at same rate. Water goes thru at exact same rate. Can't tell difference in taste or strength.Cleans easily just shaking it upside down at least when dry so just as easy to compost your grounds. Actually more grounds stay on paper filters after shaking then this oneSo conclusion is this does not make a weaker cup and your coffee expenses will not increase so this is a viable way to avoid buying paper filters for whatever reason.Later note. A Mr. coffee 6659 is also a good choice I just tried. Did same test over jar putting this in a spare basket from a 4 cup older Mr. coffee machine. Water goes thru grounds slightly slower and yes maybe the brew is slightly stronger. Not sure.Has a solid bottom

Works great in Aldi Kitchen Living brand 4 cup coffee maker. No grounds!
I bought the small size of this for my 4-cup off brand coffee maker from Aldi (Kitchen Living brand). At first I couldn't get it to fit, but when I looked at the bottom, I realized it is elliptical, not round, and I had to turn it slightly to get it to fit. It fits perfectly now that I know the trick to it! I have had NO coffee grounds in my coffee since I started using it. I had been using paper filters that were flimsy and kept collapsing, so I ended up with coffee grounds a couple times a week with paper filters. I use a very fine grind of coffee, with no grounds leaking through this permanent filter. I wish I'd found this years ago. Also, the stem in the middle makes it very easy to pull out of the coffee basket. The filter is sturdier and less flexible than what the picture would indicate. It should last a very long time as long as the screen is not punctured by something sharp.Note added later: One reviewer complained that it does not hold enough coffee if you like strong coffee. This is TRUE because the scalloped edges cut off a lot of usable space in the basket. To solve that, I would suggest trying an espresso type coffee and using HALF as much coffee as you normally would. I've been using Cafe Bustelo (which I never would have tried if it weren't for the Amazon reviews), and I've had excellent and delicious results. I've found that there's no loss of flavor by doing this.

Much better than paper filters!
Okay, enough buying stupid bleached paper filters that you throw away.... Let's think about the environment, expense, and the bleached paper you are filtering your (organic?) coffee through! Don't be dumb; get one of these! I've had it for about 2 months, and I love it! I asked my sister-in-law about filters, and she uses one like this also! She likes it too. Good stuff! Easy to rinse clean as well.

Very Satisified -
I have a Rival 5 cup coffee maker. This filter is a bit too tall, but it does fit. Much better option than some of the other filters offered since this one is screened across the bottom instead of having a solid plastic bottom.

NICE BUT DIDN'T FIT MY FARBERWARE POT
The reason I didn't like it was I have a Farberware pot and it didn't fit - they did say it "fit most coffee makers" - just not the one I have. I am returning it tomorrow. There was no packing slip enclosed so wrote a note.

easy to clean
Purchased this filter to use in a Rival brand 5 cup coffee maker that was purchased for me this Christmas. The coffee maker replaced a single cup filter that I used that was also designed around a metal micro filter.Coffee in the new maker didn't taste right--not enough flavor. Thought the paper filter might be the culprit. Read the reviews here, bought this universal filter and the taste is back! Works great--no grounds in the coffee, easy to clean, seems well made. Very much recommend this if you have a small coffee machine and want the full flavor of your coffee.

Generic coffee filter, great for small coffee makers
I got extremely tired of the necessity to go to the store to pickup coffee filters. Then I wondered why there wasn't some kind of metallic or plastic filter. Then I remembered from my past that they do exist. It was time ot choose a specific type and cost. I needed something flexible and generic so that it could be used in just about any coffee maker. The 1-5 cup size works well enough for my current coffee maker, Mr. Coffee model JWX9. There is a tiny bit of coffee grind spillover every now and then. I believe the larger size will be less likely to do this. There are probably better brands out there but this is excellent for my needs.

Great filter, easy to clean
This is a great filter. No sludge in the coffee and it doesn't affect the strength. Its supposed to be adjustable, but it was really difficult to stretch. This wasn't a huge issue because it fits my coffee pot perfectly.
