This book is filled with lovely photos and adequate descriptions.

This book. Y'all! This instantly became one of my very favorite decorating books ever, both for its beautiful, layered, thoughtful, detailed, warm, welcoming intetiors and its advocacy of sweet Southern hospitality. I love the reverence for home, family, friends--relationships of every kind--present on every page and the alluring idea that decorating a home is more about creating a feeling of belonging than being "chic" or "stylish." The decor style showcased is definitely my favorite, with a "more is more" approach and a genuine affection for antiques and other treasured old objects. Plates on the walls, silver on the table, pattern all over the place, flowers and pretty art and luscious beds...I just could drink it all in (and did, in one long session of reading and studying). This was a Spring Break present to myself, and it carried me away, just as I hoped it would.

Haven't had much time to ingulge in it yet. But, it is a beautiful book. Definitely one I will browse through often.

Poor paper quality with all pictures in b&w in the paperback version. A shame, because the book appeared well written and with interesting interior configurations.

James Farmer has hit it out of the park again.I love his beautiful Southern style. After I received this book I called a friend of mine and told her she would enjoy it as well. She thanked me and she is also going to order copies for her children who are now married and setting up house.I have no complaints about this book. His style is impeccable, the photographs are rich, and the text interesting to read. I will say if you have several James Farmer books, the style gets to be a bit recognizable. But I guess one of the strong points of a good designer is being able to stamp his work, so if this is the style you like, and I do, you’re going to love every page.
