Not that easy for mini lights
First off, there are no instructions included. While it seems that hanging C7 or C9 lights with these clips is a given, hanging mini lights was more of a challenge. After struggling with the clip for a bit and trying to figure out just how the clip would grasp a mini light, I broke it. Examining the broken pieces, I noticed that when the very tips are twisted and overlapped, it forms a smaller "clip" that a mini light will fit into. This forms a figure 8 so you have to squeeze the larger part of the "8" in order to open the smaller part of the "8" so you can slip the mini light into it. The problem is, the plastic is so rigid that doing the twisting and squeezing causes the clip to break rendering it useless. I even did this in the warm house before going outside to hang. After using my fingers to twist and then squeeze the clip a few times, my fingers became very sore from the hard plastic. So I reverted to tools. I tried gently using pliars to squeeze the clip open big enough to slip a mini light into it and ended up breaking more than a dozen clips. I switched to needle nose pliars and that worked better. All in all, the clips worked but I would only recommend C7 or C9 lights.

Easy to use on shingles. Clip on light, slide under shingle
I used these to mount my new C9 Christmas lights. Once I figured out how to use them, it was easy. What I didn't like was that they did not come with instructions. I looked on the website of Holiday Lighting Outlet and they did not have any instructions either. Then I looked for online youtube videos. That's why I included a photo of my clip and how I used it. I placed the clip around the bulb so I did NOT have to unscrew or remove the bulb. It slipped right around it. Then I slid the long side of the clip under the shingle, with the hook on top. I've also seen these used to just hold the wires. I hope it helps.

The best Christmas light raingutter clips for C-9 bulbs -- and work on the new generation of LED C-9s.
We've used this type of clips for many years to attach our old-style C-9 Christmas lights to our aluminum raingutters. They last about 8 years (Christmas light seasons) before they become brittle and subject to breakage. We've not been satisfied with any other type of clip, so we were happy to find these available on Amazon. I bought two bags of 100 clips, in case I can't find any of these in the future. Keep in mind that these clips hold the bulb in a straight-out horizontal position -- they lights do not "hang" from these clips. We like the look, but if you're looking for clips that allow the lights to hang down, these are not for you. This year, we bought LED versions of the C-9 lights, which have a much smaller "base" (not diameter, but depth of the ring on which the clip fits) on which to insert into the clips. They are a tight fit, but do work well. By the way, we're satisfied with the new GE LED C-9 lights (called "energy smart Colorite, warm traditional glow"). While they are not as bright as the traditional bulbs, they are bright enough (and much brighter than earlier generation LED Christmas lights). And, they use much less electricity (you can string 22 50-bulb (32.6-foot-length) strands together.

Great for my C9 LED stringers
These work great with my C9 LED stringers (screw-in bulbs, not pre-lamped). They would probably work fine with the pre-lamped too but I can't speak to that. I'm clipping them to my gutters and the key feature for LED bulbs is that this clip holds the light at a declined angle – meaning that the point of the bulb is angled slightly downward toward the viewer. This is important for LEDs because they're brightest when you're looking right at the point (or close to it).

Light clips that will last....
They clamp to the gutter and hold the bulb at the perfect angle. They do not require a lot of flex of the plastic to put them on and off so over time they should last. We run two strings, C7 bulbs with LED icicles. These clips make installation and removal quick and easy. I bought a lot of these clips and my son took them for his house. I had to buy more.

Better than expected
I ran out of my old clips while putting up Christmas lights this year. I bought these clips to finish hanging lights on the gutter. They looked the same as I had previous but was a bit worried that they would be not as good. Was quite pleased when they arrived as they actually are at or above the quality or my original clips. They worked well.

Holds Big Bulbs
I bought these in local stores a few years ago & they disappeared. Everything seems to be geared toward the little bulbs not big ones. Clicks in, easy to install, easy to remove.

Not quite universal
The quality is okay, but the fit is definitely not universal. The C9 sockets I have did not fit well. Had a a handful of these clips snap while fitting on to the bulbs.Bottom line - they are fine, and perhaps great for some bulb/socket types, but definitely not the best I've seen.
