From Oscar(r) -nominated Ron Shelton (Best Writing, Original Screenplay, Bull Durham, 1989) this hot action comedy is guaranteed to keep you on the edge of your seat...and in stitches. Starring Harrison Ford and Josh Hartnett, HOLLYWOOD HOMICIDE redefines the buddy-cop genre. In Hollywood, no one is who they really want to be. Veteran police detective Joe Gavilan (Ford) and his rookie partner K.C. Calden (Hartnett) are no exception. Between Joe've got a major murder case to solve. With both Internal Affairs and their main suspect on their tails, Joe and K.C. have to infiltrate the dangerous world of the hip-hop recording industry. Juggling two careers proves to be a comical adventure, with Joe and K.C. desperate to stay alive long enough to catch their big break.

this put me in a coma; I've seen funnier things in obituaries
The best thing about this movie is turning it off. The ;positive reviews were also extremely entertaining and extremely convincing works of fiction and must be from people who never saw a comedy before. Hint: a comedy is when something makes you laugh. A comedy usually has people watching it laugh more than once. My step dad funeral was funnier than this movie. Josh Hartnett and Ford are stilted, awkward and nothing works. It's not interesting as a drama either. In fact this movie doesn't qualify as a movie. It should be marketed as Ambien.

You just can't miss with Harrison Ford.. wildly funny, entertaining, a bit off the wall, but really fun!
I love the two lead actors, and that is what is most enjoyable about the film.. it is shallow, but very entertaining in that sort of way, it's playful, wildly funny at points, there's a scene in an elevator where Harrison Ford in all bloody, has his gun drawn, takes a call he's pleased about, then turns the the terrified ladies in the elevator and says, "I'm a Real Estate Broker"! The car chases are also wildly funny, and of course, with two studs in the film, there are sexy girls, too. A great movie when you just want a playful, shockingly funny, entertaining film!

I have always loved this movie
I have always loved this movie.Hartnett and Ford are great together. Most people don't realize how many officers have second or even third jobs. The hilarity of the ,"co-mingling," of jobs is right on the markHats off to the writers!LMAO every time!!!

Surprising in a good way
Lots of laughs in this original story of keeping the peace in Hollywood where everybody wants to be in the movie biz. Very entertaining - I'll watch it again.

Hilarious Movie
You gotta have a sense of humor with this movie. Harrison Ford plays Gavilan who moonlights as a real estate broker is also a homicide detective and Josh Hartnett plays K.C. Calden his partner and also a yoga instructor on the side who wants out of the detective biz and become an actor. Sounds corny, yes but it's just so funny. If you want a good crazy stupid funny movie where nothing makes any sense until its almost over- then this is it. Me- I enjoy this movie every time- its such a light comedial show, about life in Hollywood.

Don't call me sir, I work for a living...
When not solving murders in Hollywood, Detective Joe Gavilan and his rookie partner Kasey Calden both moonlight in other fieldsGavilan sells real estate, and Calden aspires to become an actor.Assigned to the vicious in-club slaying of a promising young rap act, the two detectives delve into the recording industry where they hope to find answers - ideally ones that also come with property buyers or auditions......The problem with this film is that it cannot decide what it wants to be. Yes it's funny in places, but so is The Fifth Element (random I know) and I wouldn't class it as a comedy. It's a mishmash of different genres, drama, thriller, hip hop type drama, and action rolled into one. Or the little sub-genre I call 'the time when Ford tried to get down with the kids'.And this is all it is, Ford trying to get his mojo back after a string of flops with a Rap music background narrative and a hot young co-star (think Exit Wounds). And for the most part, it works, Ford is great as he has this 'I don't care anymore' attitude that makes home endearing.Hartnett is okay and the rest of the cast are forgettable. Story wise it's all over the place, and Shelton should know better, Dark Blue was a great movie. So all in all, it's not good by any means, but curiously watchable

oops My blu ray is a DVD!
Oops! I certainly screwed up this order. I was ordering blu rays & I'd seen this before on DVD & enjoyed it so while I was searching for cheap blu rays this popped up. It was straight on my list. Only when the DVD arrived did I look again & realise I'd ordered another blasted DVD. Anyway I haven't watched it yonks & I'm on to blu rays now so probably will be a while before I see this one. I am aware that it was not a successful film or a critical hit either. but I did enjoy it way back when I saw it many years ago.

Very entertaining, relaxing film to watch
It's a good film after a hard day. Easy to digest, not much 'work' needed to understand or to emotional invest in this film. Harrison Ford is always great and the 2 of them makes a funny pair. I especially like the whole idea of cops having a second job and taking mobile calls relating to their second career during police work. Plus I like the 2 caracters. A few good laughs.
