Perfect for my 4 year old
This was perfect for my energetic 4 year old. We decided to take our children to Disneyland. The older children are great about not wandering off, but the 4 year old tends to slip his hand out of ours and take off in parking lots or stores. I knew this would be the cause of a lot of stress on our vacation. I didn't want to be carrying him around all the time and knew he would want to be in a stroller all the time. Originally, I ordered him a backpack leash but it was too small for him and really I believe it was made for toddlers. This wristband set was perfect. He loved that it looks like a watch and that we had matching ones. It made him feel like a big kid. He was very excited to use it. I loved that the tether part was retractable-- it meant that we got less dirty looks (because it wasn't as noticeable) and that we didn't have to worry about the cord dangling or getting tangled. This was a win-win for parent and child!

The wristbands are really great. My kids weren't totally on board for having a limit to their running space, but after my 2 y/o darted across a busy street to get to the park, narrowly missing getting hit twice (and me too from running after him), enough was enough. The design is very nice. We've gotten compliments on them, and other people have commented how great of an idea they are. I've linked up my boys together and then to my cord, and walked a few city blocks to the park that way without trouble. They both enoy the feeling of having a "watch." Unfortunately, in my case, too much tugging from a rowdy toddler caused one of the watches to partially break. The pin holding the clasp part of the wrist band popped, so a really hard tug could cause the watch to unclasp. I think it could be fixed, but that's the only reason I didn't place the product at 5 stars. Fortunately the mechanism that releases and retracts the cord inside works perfectly.

I love the idea of this product
I love the idea of this product. My son is 4 years old, so most of the other "toddler" restraints are either too small or seem a bit childish to him, like the animal backpacks.I bought this while we were on vacation, as a way to keep him with me in crowded areas. He was excited to wear this because it looked like a watch to him, and his "watch" matched the one of the adult connected to him (though the strap on his is green and the parent strap is black). The cord from each watch inserts into a metal hook. Then, you hook the hooks together to connect the parent/caregiver and child. This was the downfall of the product for us. After wearing the watch for 2 hours while we were on vacation, he pulled his arm suddenly and the cord pulled out of the hook, sending him sprawling backward. Less than one day, and it was broken. We ended up just tying the strings together for the rest of the vacation. I really wish this had lasted longer.

works perfect for our needs
My four year old son has severe ADHD. When his medicine hasn't kicked in or has worn off, he tends to run away from me. Really scary in parking lots and other public places. I wasn't sure if he would use it, but it was worth a try. He loves it! He says he's Spider-Man and the watch/wrist band is his special spider web throwing gadget. It allows him to have some freedom to move around, but can't get far enough away where he could head into a parking lot or street without me. It frees up my hand for the pile of stuff that moms always end up carrying.

Idea is great but the plastic broken around the wristband
Idea is great but the plastic broken around the wristband. Was poking into my arm and noticed it snapped. Would have been great if it last longer.

Useful while it lasted...
Worked great for 89 days, tethering our generally compliant toddler to a slow-walking adult. On day 90 (the last day of the return period), the connection between the plastic center and the wrist strap snapped off. Keeping our child out of the street for 90 days is certainly worth $15...but the construction isn't nearly as durable as I had expected.

Great to have on hand
My kids love the KinderKord restraint. I purchased one of these YEARS ago from another website and loved being able to use it with my small son when we'd be in crowded places. Not so much for him wandering off, but because I am a busy mom, I worried about getting distracted and someone snatching him. (first child paranoia)Well now that my son is much older, and I've since lost one of the arm bands, I decided to purchase another set for our trip to Disney. I plan on using this with either my 4 year old or my 16 month old. The older kids love pretending their secret agents with these so it's no trouble getting them to wear it. I'm not sure about my little one though! I may never actually use them for their intended purpose but the peace of mind is better than not having them!

Good idea but child didn't like it
when I received the tether it seemed great. We were going to use it at the airport. However, my son is almost 2 and wouldn't wear it. Keep in mind that my child wears a "potty" watch and has absolutely no problem with wearing it. He just wouldn't wear this... I think if you can get your child use to it early on it may be great. My child has always had freedom, been in a stroller, or held our hand- I'm not sure why this was such a big deal but it was. It seems like a great idea, there are different lengths. It wasn't uncomfortable- it just didn't work for us.
