Innovative Mechanical Pencil!
I'm a mechanical pencil freak. Have been since I was in grade school. I got all kinds of clutch pencils and mechanical pencils in my collection. I usually get a few unusual pencils a year, I decided to give this one a shot. Though, suffice to say, I'm a .9mm guy, it was a pencil I "gotta" have in my collection. It does hold up to it's name with it's name to claim. Up to 3 clicks, the lead will not break. A few times I got it up to 4 clicks and the lead didn't break. But with 1, 2, or 3 clicks, you can press really hard and it just retracts back in, then when you release, it pops back out. Pretty neat design if you ask me.Only downside is, there is too much plastic. I prefer metal pencils. Like out of aluminum or brass, made with metal components. There are only a few left that use all metal parts. But you are looking at spending some cash. However, it appears if the pencil is well made, and the components are engineered in such a way that it should last several years. Longer if only used at a desk.Zebra gives you extra pencil leads, in HB (#2) grade hardness. I did notice they seemed more like a H hardness, more than a HB. Maybe just a quality HB lead? Not sure. I'd have to do more analysis on the lead composition. Just by the faintness of how it was writing compared to my Pentel HB, and my Nano Dia HB leads of the same thickness. I have a feeling there is more clay in the lead making it stronger, more like in the middle ground of H and HB.I need to try some of my Pentel colored leads in it. They are a LOT more brittle than regular pencil lead. Curious to see if the DelGuard system will protect against broken colored leads. As that was one of the reasons I was looking into this pencil. Whenever I get around to it, I'll come back and report my findings. All in all, it's a great pencil for the money. It goes up similar to my Mitsubishi/Uni Kuru Toga with the rotating lead mechanism.

Awesome Pencil
Wow, I really like this Zebra mechanical pencil. So I love mechanical pencils for drawing, but I am bad about breakingthe lead in my drawing time, this Zebra DelGuard pencil keeps the lead frombreaking, so I can draw without worrying about breaking my lead. What a cool pencil, it is well made and light weight, I prefer heavy pens & pencils, but this fits my hand so well that it being light weight doesn't bother me.I am going to buy another one to keep in my art bag. This product also comes with lead refills.

Works great for woodworking.
I was skeptical about the "anti-breaking" properties of this pencil but am now convinced. I use this pencil exclusively for marking up woodworking projects. Usually lead this thin snaps of very easily. This design protects the lead so that you are able to make clean, accurate marks without the lead snapping off repeatedly. The key for me was to use at most 3 clicks to extend the lead. More than 3 and the lead breaks off too easily. I liked this enough to buy a second pencil to keep in another part of the shop. Would definitely buy again and highly recommend to woodworkers.

It's an okay pencil
Marketing hype aside, this is a mechanical pencil. It performs well and doesn't advance the lead too far which keeps the lead from snapping. Any lead is breakable if it's extended far enough from the end of the pencil. Refilling the DelGuaard is easy enough - take out the eraser and drop in a replacement. The metal eraser cap has a hole in it which you can drop refills into if the eraser is not in place; handy if you like to use a block or pencil style eraser instead of the small built-in one.

Excellent pencil, No lead breakage
Excellent Pencil. It really fulfils what it promises, it protects lead from breaking.Technicall, there are two springs inside the pencil. The lower one is meant to protect the lead from angled pressure and it works properly. The higher one protects the lead when perpendicular pressure applied. The lead sleeve is half-needle and half-conical shape which reduces the chances of bending when dropped. Grip section solid plastic that is also very good for my taste. And the price for this amazing pencil is very affordable. It deserves every pennies you pay.

Great pencil, not a miracle pencil.
The pencil does what it does, and does it well. If you try hard enough the lead will break, but not under normal use. I like the body and the weight of the pencil. It is not too heavy and made out of a hard plastic. I can't seem to open it, maybe not putting enough muscle into it, but I don't want to break it.

A musician should own this pencil
I play in a symphony orchestra and when you need to mark music, it needs to be done quickly and at a pretty awkward angle. When you are trying to write on a vertical piece of paper at that weird angle, you break a ton of graphite in other mechanical pencils. That simply does not happen with this pencil with the provided lead. I have not tried to use anything other than the dedicated lead that came with the pencil, so I cannot speak to that, but I have been using this pencil for about a year and have yet to experience any lead breaks.I just bought a second for a colleague in the orchestra.
