Seems to be accurate and useful
Formaldehyde is a gas that gets emitted by manufactured woods such as plywood and MDF. In California, the AQMD has limits to such emissions to make sure it is below the safe level. My neighbor who installed a new kitchen and some MDF molding suspected that her house has high emissions of formaldehyde (about 170 ppb = 0.170 ppm) - This made me worried because we installed a new kitchen and some MDF molding about the same time she did.I like the ease of use of the device. I followed the instructions on the manual and left it for 4 hours or more in open air before first use. The reading at this time, in open air, continued to fluctuate up and down around 0.055 ppm which is 55 ppb. It seems like it takes longer time to circulate the air inside the device body. Later, I left the device for more time in my backyard and it did fluctuate around zero without need to reset the reading to zero (calibration). Then placed it in every room for about 10 minutes and the readings were between .025 and 0.035 ppm (multiply by 1000 to get the ppb) which is good. I told my wife to open the windows every morning for 1 hour to circulate the air inside the house. Repeating the measurements on that day showed 10 to 20 ppb.PS. During cooking in the kitchen using a natural gas stove, the device was in another room but the reading went as high as 0.350 or more ppm. The device is very sensitive to fumes from cooking and would totally show erroneous reading. To use it correctly, make sure no cooking, sprays, or any thing else is recently used or done.I can only tell that the device reads zero outside and gives other readings inside the house. Even if it is not 100% accurate, at least it gave me some relative values.

although not perfect, are below the danger level
I now have a very favorable opinion of this instrument by understanding the science behind it and fully understanding the operation of it.I am relieved to find that the levels of formaldehyde in our home after installing wood floors, although not perfect, are below the danger level.

Four Stars
Working fine, not sure if you need to take it outside to reset for accurate reading.

Easy & accurate
Very easy to use. Be sure to calibrate it first outside the house.

Helpful in detecting formaldehyde and other airborne gases (aerosol contents).

Had Huge Doubts if it Worked
Returned it. I really had my doubts that this worked. It seemed like it either read zero, or was off the charts high.
