Its a plastic scoop. Not a lot of moving parts. It does what its supposed to do. Scoop. :)Which leaves the only real item to review: durability. Compared to the rest of the Chinese garbage in the same class on amazon, this is the god of scoops. Of everything I purchase this is one of the very few things I've bought that reminds me of the quality of products 40 years ago.Cons: zeroPros: Everything. Buy it!

Works great to recover targets. Good volume to speed up locating, and to reduce by halving. Fits in the back pocket. Sturdy enough for light digging, but normally just using it to scoop loose material dug from the hole. Works much better than my older plastic garden type trowels that I used for years, do to the extra volume and curved bottom. In a pinch, I think you could use an a miners horn (pan) for testing small quantities of placer material.

Very strong scoop. This is my second one because my brother keeps borrowing my other one. Works very well with the coil of my metal detector to ID targets in the scoop. It works equally as well panning for gold. When I am snipping around rocks it doesn't wear out fast like the cheap scoops. Rocks and gravel can be hard on a scoop but this one can take it.
