BIA Cordon Bleu White Oval Porcelain Au Gratin Bowl, 8 oz, White

I bought 4 of these dishes for home use. I've made single servings of baked pasta in them & I plan to cook fish in them. They are ample for single servings. When I was researching my purchase, many reviewers commented on the adequacy of the sides of various dishes. An au gratin dish is supposed to have small sides. The sides on these are as I would expect on this product type. It is apparent the designers took care in their design because there is a discreet little motif on the handles. The handles are more than adequate for removing the dishes from the oven. I frequently find handles on dishes are so small that I end up with a sodden & hot pot holder after handling a dish that is full. That is not the case with these! The dishes are china & must be treated as one would treat china (ie: it's apparent if you drop them, they will break, you can't do the cold to hot process without bringing it to room temp first - although I did refrigerator to microwave with an extra serving without a problem.) I had no problem with shipping from the supplier. In fact, the shipment arrived before my(same day)Amazon direct order did. I even ordered more than what Amazon said was available (thinking there would be a delay)& got them all within a week with Standard Shipping. The items were packaged well. My system for rating is something only gets 5 stars if I can't think of anything that could be improved. I give 5 stars unreservedly to this product.

BIA Cordon Bleu makes the BEST Au Gratin dishes in 8 & 12.5 oz. sises. I use mine often to make a Swiss Chard & Mushroom Au Gratin. Perfect meal for one person. The 8 oz. size can also be used for appetizers, like Asparagus spears or any sides when serving dinner for 3-4 people. I hand wash mine as it's a glazed ceramic because it's fairly delicate but substantial as well. Can't attest to durability in dishwasher but would advise against that. Washes easily in hot soapy water and towel dry.

I use this dish for gratin sides, but perfect for small portion leftovers as well. It might be my favorite small casserole dish.

These are great for au gratin potatoes and hold enough for 2 people but I use less potatoes for single servings. They are oven proof and nicely go from oven to table. I mistakenly didn't even butter or grease the dishes prior to high temp baking and clean up was stilll a breeze. Love 'em.

Why can't someone make one of these 2 or 3" deep?

These lovely au gratin dishes were exactly what I had been looking for. They arrived very quickly and in perfect condition. I am putting on a ladies luncheon and serving seafood au gratin and these are the perfect size for individual servings. I just ordered two more sets. And the price is unbeatable! BIA Whiteware Au Gratin, 10" x 4 3/4"
