Judas: Betrayer or Friend of Jesus?

Judas in the Four Gospels - Betrayer or Friend?
I wrote a research paper using this as one source. Klassen is an exceptional writer and brings out Judas in each of the Four Gospels. I changed my whole thesis once I got into my research. Judas is such a mystery - who people thought he was for 2,000 years and the role he played pre-Christianity. "Betrayer or Friend?" You decide.

A detailed study of the most missunderstood and abused character in the bible.
A very detailed study of Judas. What I Like most is that he does not make claims that he can not prove. This book is the best witnessed book of its type that I have read for some time. I will probably spend the next few months reading the witnesses that he used.

I might well be underrating this work because I am aware of more recent research on Judas, but the author does make some excellent points as to why we might wish to reconsider whether or not Judas betrayed Jesus. He walks the reader through systematically, first detailing what sources will be used, then a discussion regarding what might be gleaned from his name and what tradition tells us. He then works through each of the gospels (I differ with regards to dating the gospels but he does follow convention), accounts of Judas' death, what theologians say and finally Jewish perspectives. I must say that I do find it a valuable addition to my personal research.

outsatnding, but....
this is not a book for the novice! While well researched and, in my opinion, makes an excellent case for the innocence of Judas Iscariot one must be really into the subject of the historical Jesus in general and Judas in particular.
