Using other brands of pellets.
Using their adapter for other brands of pellets does not work. You will have to set the grill at higher temperature to keep the fire going. Setting the control at SMOKE, the fire will go out. I don't think Asmoke people pull much thought into the adapter, they want you to buy their pellets. I made my own adapter as seen in my picture. and I added a bolt for easy removal. I was able to use the SMOKE setting and able to hold temp at 175 on dial and inside temp at 195. I made a baby-back rib using the 3 2 1 method. SMOKE setting for 3 hrs. then wrapped in foil and turn temp to 350. The smoker held temp at 355 for 2hrs. Unwrapped the rib and put back on grill to sauce for about 45 mins. (Side note: the grill was in full sun. ) I gave it 4 stars because of the adapter. Watch the reviews on YOUTUBE. With the use of my adapter, it works great with less expensive pellets.

Cross Plate for Firebox
Put this together how instructions showed. There was a plate with cross cut out in box left over. It was not on my instructions. First time I used the grill, after burn out, it would NOT hold temp, no matter what. I said to myself, "Let's try this plate." That was the issue. Firebox kept dropping pellets that burned up so the burner fan was working overtime. I wish it had showed up in the instructions. Right now it's holding within about 3-5 degrees

No customer support!
A friend has one of these and his works perfectly, hence two stars instead of one. Mine had wild temperature fluctuations (set for 250, varies between 135 and 550) and never worked right. I called customer service and was told “The person you need to speak with is not available. They will call you back shortly.” After seventeen days I got an email asking what my problem was. In the email was a detailed description of my problem as described to the answering service that took my original call. I understand that a few units will make it through quality control. That’s understandable and it happens. Many people have had good luck with this thing as it gets pretty good reviews. But when one arrives in faulty condition you have got to provide actual customer support. A phone number that goes to a service isn’t that. Seventeen days between call and response isn’t that. Asking what my problem is when you’ve attached a detailed description of said problem isn’t that.

The actual temp on display off by 25 degr
So far so good. Just have to experiment with temp control. Have smoked country pork ribs, brats chicken quarters and beer can burgers with cast iron pan. So far so good. Just need to know true temp. I place oven thermometer in and peek to see true temp. Unit runs 25 degrees hotter than display . All in all I really enjoy this little smoker grill. Bought for camping trips been trying it out at home to learn it's little quirks. Highly recommend. Ease of cleanup is a snap. I use foil over deflecter shield for more easy clean up. You can't go wrong buying this unit. Just needs trying it out to get to learn how to smoke yummy food.

Buy it from different merchant!
Grill is GREAT, once you figure it out how it actually works. Expect to burning 🔥 a few pellets too figure out how it actually works. Product users manual not written well at all. Merchant is not helpful at all.

Temperature out of control - CUSTOMER SERVICE NO HELP
Multiple attempts, same results. Set temp on "Smoke" which is supposed to be 180 degrees. Temperature will repeatedly go up to over 400 degrees and back down to the 130's.Called customer service - someone will get back to meNext day called customer service - someone will get back to me2 days later customer service - someone will get back to meReceived email at 3am asking what the trouble was. Replied same day2 days later received a link to a video showing me how to change P setting. Replied no idea what a P setting was.2 days later received email saying video has clear instructionsAsked again for explanation of what a P setting was.2 days later tried calling contact support. Agent fessed up that an answering service answers the calls and Asmoke only deals with customers via email. Not possible to talk to an Asmoke human.UpdateAsmoke has finally determined the control board needs to be replaced but they are out of stock. No guarantee of when part will be available. Unit is being returned. As they are unable to support their product and have dismal customer service I would strongly recommend not buying anything from Asmoke
