Better, For Sure
Our front and back yards are a deer / raccoon / rabbit /fox etc. highway. And for all that internet meme about possums offering little service stations to remove ticks from Bambi, we have possums, and all they do is take the figs out of our fig tree, and waddle off looking for a napkin to wipe the fig detritus from their noses. So, we've got ticks. And I know scientists tell you that ticks don't hop out of trees, but actually, whatever a deer brushes against may be a tick landing pad, and from there the tick may hop on you. I've had a tick hop from a low tree branch to my shoulder. And from a tree trunk (that I made the mistake of climbing like I was still 12 years old) to me. And from grass to me. So, we've got ticks. Even though I wear lots of clothes when I work in the yard (because we have ticks AND snakes). Hence my interest in this product.Which appears to work, because, in spite of the copious amount of nature around us (which we do enjoy except for the insects they bring), we haven't seen any ticks lately. Night cams show deer are still visiting, and we're seeing them in the daytime as well, but we haven't seen ticks. So I'm quite hopeful, and liking this product. To limit any potential toxicity (you never know) and confine the expense, we only apply it where we work; we get a lot of rain, so we only spray when rain is not in the forecast, and we don't spray around our small pond. I know it's supposed to be safe, but I don't want to cause issues with the frogs we like (who helpfully eat the insects we don't).Seems to work, and a few less ticks makes me happy. Super happy.

Seems to be working okay.... I hope...
Well can't say for 100% its terrific. Haven't seen a single tick since got it. But also usually wind up with 1-2 ticks at most a summer on my little dog and we'd had one early this year attached to her neck when I shaved her the first time of summer. If she had any others they were lost and unseen in the 4-5 inches of very thick hair I shaved off her. One of the 3 times she's been shaved this summer.Quite a change from my childhood, on the farm we'd have a few each every month if not every week. If like me and dad you were out in the woods or by the river (putting in fences for the cows). Driving tractor and using woods as cover since didn't have porta-pottys out there ya got to the point you were surprised if ya didn't find one every other day at least.Even with seldom finding any here, and the fact that maybe 1 out of 5-8 would be on a person instead of the dogs, they still freak me out and make my skin crawl (just the mention of them). And that's without even considering things like Lyme disease or that Rocky mountain spotted fever.Like I said haven't seen a single one since we got the spray. But maybe wouldn't have seen anymore this year anyways. Though as far as I'm concerned I'm going to just keep believing that it's working very very well so come next year hopefully I'll have it to work very well again.I spent most my life with long dark and extremely thick hair which is always fun when searching for those dang things. And pretty much means that no matter how much you search there's a good chance you still might have missed one. The last time I (my parents) did I was 8-10woke up in the middle of the night with a tickling feeling on my neck reached up what it was and besides screaming didn't bother to think. Grabbed it hold it off of me and whipped it across the room. That went downstairs to find one of my parents to tell him that they had to go search my room for a tick at which point dad and for me that didn't have to worry about that. That part of it was now harmless and then proceeded to dig the head out of my neck. So when I say they freak me out I mean they really really freak me out.Several times I have made sure to spray it around my doorways either at the edge of the house or the edge of the rock garden around the house and around the giant birch tree in my backyard. Also along the border between me and my neighbors yard where he's got a whole bunch of trees. I've actually been more diligent this summer about spraying that then I usually am about spraying deer and rabbit repellent around my garden every month or so. And the rabbit repellent is as much for saving my garden as it is for not having to come out and either have a rabbit dang near bolt in my door trying to get away from my dog going back and forth across the yard again and again. Or having the unfortunate job of finding them after she catches one.So there's one I'm very very diligent about continuously doing and take deterrent even more so. Especially around the birch tree in the back because I know that's where the dog always picks them up. Since she rubs up against the tree and none of the rest of us do. She also chases squirrels up the tree when she catches them in the yard. As long as I don't find another tick on her or any of us at the grandkids after we've been outside I will continue to spray it in all the spots I have been. Especially since grandkids are getting bigger so we've been spending a lot more time out in the yard when they're here and last summer was one of those where we had a couple extras catching a ride on people instead of just the dog...

Spray your ticks away...
I’ve moved to a state that has ticks & will soon be on a piece of land that is literally a forest. Ticks abound. When I saw this product I thought I was pretty clever & tackling a current problem, but then found out that the ticks are in force in June so I’m too late for this year & too early for next year.My intention was to use this spray on the St. Bernard that attracts ticks but this spray is for the land, not an animal. It’s a safer spray to use than the chemicals in other tick sprays but it does caution to keep it away from pets & children. It can be used in areas where they are safely but don’t use on them. It’s not an unpleasant, chemical scent. It uses the oils from peppermint, cinnamon & citronella & in addition, only has water added. The spray works by irritating ticks. Shake well then spray it in well-ventilated areas. It’s recommended to spray it around the tree lines, gardens, mulch beds, tall grassy areas & the perimeter of your home. During the first week of use, it needs to be sprayed several times. Then continue to maintain the area by spraying again every 30 days.I have a tendency to think that if a product is made from essential oils then it’s safe. This has some cautions that are very real & should be followed for safety reasons. Avoid spraying it on food crops or edible plants, near water or areas where there are fish. Skin, eyes & clothing need to be protected from the spray & it’s cautioned not to spray near painted or stained areas. It’s safe to use when the instructions are followed & I like that it’ll be safer for areas where children & pets will be. I don’t know if it works because I haven’t seen any ticks. Then again, maybe it does work & that’s why I don’t see any ticks.
