GeoSmartSolar Spinner 23-Piece GeoMagnetic STEM Building Set with Spinner

Great toys, spinner works well
The GeoSmart Solar Spinner set is a 23 piece set of magnetic geometric shapes. The 23 piece set is a bit small and definitely works better in tandem with another set. There are enough pieces to build a few simple shapes and not much else. The pieces themselves are very solid and the magnets are well attached. They have survived multiple drops on a hardwood floor with no visible damage. I have always been cautious with magnetic toys due to the hazards of children accidentally ingesting them. One of the reasons the GeoSmart version of magnetic toys stand out is how they secure the magnets in two layers of protection. I find this added protection reassuring.Another thing I enjoy about the GeoSmart product is that they find a better balance with the strength of the magnets. My children have played with the Magformers product in the past. I think the Magformers magnets are too strong for smaller children and can be hard to pull apart. The GeoSmart have a weaker magnetic force that makes them easier to manipulate but still strong enough to build large structures. The big selling point to the Solar Spinner set is the spinning piece. Thankfully, this worked better than expected. The build quality is top notch and it spins freely. Once it is weighted down it doesn't spin quiet as easily but the mechanical movement is still smooth. There is very little to dislike about the GeoSmart product. They are a great stepping stone up from Legos for teaching geometry and spacial awareness. The price is a little steep but justified as it is hard to find any fault with the quality of the toy.

Creative, Educational and Fun
This is a clever magnetic building toy, made up of squares and triangles that can be combined to build any number of things. This one includes design instructions to build a spinner -- and a special spinning tile -- that actually works, and looks pretty cool, but you can build many geometric shapes. (NOTE: There is nothing "solar powered" about this toy, so I find the name a little deceptive. You spin it by hand.) The pieces are magnetic on all four sides, hold securely to build, and stand up, but come apart relatively easy for rebuilding. Both my nine and five-year-olds enjoyed them, though the younger even more so. These are almost identical to, and can be used with (they connect, but are not sized perfectly), the Magnaformers we already have.Educational and creative, these are a sturdy, long-lasting toy.

GeoSmart magnets are very attractive
Magnetic pieces are very strong, colorful, and the plastic pieces not only look pleasing and inviting, but feel solidly built.Very good toy to encourage and persuade children to take a break from digital devices and play with something physical and use hands and mind in a creating and productive manner.I didn't find anything really "solar" in this toy. There is a spinner piece that enables anything about it spin. I really hoped that there is something that continuously spins utilizing solar (light) energy and to find nothing of that sort was disappointing.Magnets are powerful enough to let you make some gravity defying assemblies.I think it is a good toy for a child that likes to assemble things and tries to make various shapes. Build quality, colors, and power of magnets make it a good product.

Great educational toy!
As a former elementary school teacher, I love the science/math aspect of this toy to go with the STEM program. You can just see little engineer minds forming before your eyes through play. My children are young (2 1/2 and 9 months), however, my 2 1/2 year old has already learned her shapes so this a good review for her and a way for her to explore shapes (number of sides, building with them, putting them together, matching shapes for building, etc. The teaching possibilities with this toy are endless and even though my daughter is a bit young, it engages her and keeps her interest. I'm a huge fan of learning through play, and that is just what this toy provides.

Fun magnetic building blocks
Where were these cool toys when we were kids? The Solar Spinner features a single spinner. Just snap 2 magnetic squares on then magnetic attach triangles or squares to create awesome shapes. Plan to expand the set with additional kits with more shapes for really cool creations. Think of these as magnetic Legos. Addictive! Really fun for the future STEM kids. I'm an adult yet I still love creating with the Geosmart magnetic pieces. I'd love to see a Geosmart kit specifically for learning about geodesic domes, obviously on a small scale.Geosmart are similar to Magformers, I believe they would work together.

Fun toy to help use their imagination and be creative.
My 6year old son really enjoys playing with these. They are strong and durable. My son has dropped them from counter height a few times and they have yet to break. The magnets are strong and stick together easily. They come in bright colors. I like that they help him be creative and use his imagination. They are easy to use and will entertain him for a good amount of time, I just wish they came with more in a set since he is somewhat limited in what he can build. This set comes with 12 squares, 10 triangles and a spinner piece. I plan on buying some additional sets to add to this so he can build bigger things.

A great building set
I love these magnetic building toys. They are fun and creative for kids of all ages, and even adults will be intrigued. I field-tested mine on an seven-year-old boy and a four-year-old boy, and both were entranced. The toy seems durable and solid, and the four-year-old especially loved that it could be made to spin. I wish the building sets were a bit less expensive, but as they provide hours of fun and creativity, I think of them as an investment. Highly recommended.

Compact and educational
This is a great learning tool for the Kindergarten-aged child. The tiles attach to one another easily with a pretty strong magnetic force and can be attached to the spinning tiles included. The magnets are stronger than those in the magna-tile set, to allow for the spinning.Overall a great toy to add to a STEM toy collection, although I will say that the spinner is not solar activated like the title implies. Still fun nonetheless.
