IT WORKS! And at very good range too. Compatible with Linux, even from VM.
I had bought this unit to replace one that I had been using from MPOW, which seemed to work perfectly fine in the past but lately had been playing games with me. In fact, one of its tricks was to work perfectly well on Linux running on a Virtual Machine INSIDE of Windows, but NOT actually working on the Windows host itself! (not even Windows 11 either...) Sometimes it would, sometimes it wouldn't - depended on what kind of mood it was in I guess. Often times I would have to "forget" the device entirely from the menu in order for what I was connecting to it to be recognized on the next plugin. Not anymore - EDUP rescued me from that despair, confusion and misery. This bluetooth adapter was PLUG AND PLAY all the way. Recognized immediately, drivers were installed or identified automatically, and no hacky 3rd-party software to deal with (you never know, afterall). It has a range of about 20 feet I would say, and that's inside a home with REALLY thick insulation between the walls - at least compared to how average homes are constructed nowadays. So it would probably be much further in an open office environment for instance. I really like the antenna do, I do believe it's functional and not just for looks - though it looks cool too.Thank you, "LOVE!"

Works great after initial hiccup
So this works great and the range is excellent after a bit of a hiccup getting it installed. It only comes with a CD to install the drivers and like most computers today, I don't have an optical drive. I used the link that people have mentioned here multiple times and is in the Q and As. But the thing that really threw me for a loop were the headphones I already had paired. I could not reconnect them nor forget them. Which after a bit of thought makes sense because they were paired to horrible BT device that came with this computer. I struggled trying to get it to remove the old paired devices but it seemed impossible. Finally I tried repairing them as though they are new devices and that worked great. The lesson? If you already have BT on your computer and have some things paired, you should probably forget them before installing the drivers. I think it would have simplified things for me.This is not an issue with this device, hence I am still giving it 5 stars. This is more in the way Windows handles having an existing BT driver replaced.

Tricky to install
My experience is exactly that of Michelle and Tim's. This item only comes with an install mini-CD... and many laptops today don't have an optical drive. (The other Bluetooth dongle I bought for my desktop had both a mini-cd and a thumbdrive). In all fairness it was fairly easy to go to the website and download the installation software. However on installation, it kept giving me an error involving supposed "unauthorized" Bluetooth components (I'd guess the internal Realtek Bluetooth device already in the laptop), as well as Realtek and Intel driver errors.I later found the real issue was with Intel, which insists on installing their own Bluetooth drivers-- even though an Intel Bluetooth device isn't installed. The fix for this: Control Panel / Device Manager / Remove Intel driver (be sure the microscopic box is checked that removes the software itself). Reboot... and this device works fine. You will have to do this EVERY TIME Windows updates drivers. Windows is a pain.Range depends on elevation. When I first installed it on the front USB port of my computer, the range was no better than my prior micro USB dongle. In order to get better range I had to attach it to a shelf about 3 ft higher. desktop computer that is sitting on the floor... chances are the range on this will be no better than a micro-dongle. You may need to raise the device higher. The installation and setup was more complex than a Bluetooth connection should be. Once I managed to get it to work, it later re-connected with no problem. But because of Intel drivers, this device does not install as easily as it should. The Intel drivers AND SOFTWARE must be totally removed from your computer. The positive note: once all this hassle was done, the device does what I bought it for: it extended my Bluetooth range without a skip or glitch. So it's okay... but the other one I purchased was a lot easier to install. Still, if the Intel drivers are completely removed from your computer, this installs and works well.

Could Not be much happier... Fantastic purchase.
I will have this device connected to every computer I own til the day I die, assuming the technology is still needed..My PC came with a dogwater bluetooth connection. Sitting with my face pressed against the case and at best I would get garbled static-y noise. This bluetooth connector was easy to install, however the drivers are sent to you on a DISC!! So to install it I had to connect my external CD/DVD drive to download the driver. A little bit of a hassle when all my USB ports are taken up already, and most people arent going to have the external drive, and new PCs definitely dont come with them anymore.. From reviews, looks like you can get the drivers online, but just more hassle. So i gave four stars for "easy to install"...but the device itself is great, works well, I can get about 50 feet away before losing signal, and not alot of walls in my way... I love it, it was well worth the money. Im so happy to be able to use my wireless earbuds instead of a corded headset. Incredibly happy with this.
