Mixed 2-Pack with Satin Nickel Finish

I have several interior doors with new door locks but the strike plate on the bedroom doors didn’t work well and the door didn’t latch. I tired this solution before calling a locksmith to re-finish the lock setup and this item was not only very easy to install but worked absolutely great. We had so many doors that would not latch, one of which was our bedroom door that lead to the kitchen, and it was such a pain constantly propping chairs and stools against doors to keep them closed. Problem solved! I ordered one to make sure it would work and just ordered 2 more.

I live in a 98 year old house whose doors will not stay closed. The house has settled and there is a 1/8 to 1/4 inch gap between the door edge and the striker plate. These striker plates go over the old plates and it is not necessary to remove the old plate. The only thing you may have to do is use a longer screw in the bottom screw hole if it rests over an area where the wood has been removed for prior door latches. You can have doors that actually stay closed without having to hire a carpenter or remove the doors. Great product that actually does what it claims to do.

Seems like a great idea if it fits your door. My strike was just a tad off and the not quite catching the strike plate all the time or it did and then release itself. The problem with the product was that it had a plastic lip on the inside that grabs the door jam to hold it there. The problem with that was once I put it on, now the door was loose as it was closed, but lost an 1/8" once closed. Solution? Break off the plastic backing from the metal strike plate, align and screw it in. Then it worked fine. Its not perfect, but you need to play around with a bit to make it work.

Our house had settled and I could no longer adjust the strike plate to properly close the door. This item fixed the issue. One thing - I had to find a colored magic marker to make the white back plate match our oak door frame. Didn’t match exactly, but good enough for this repair.
