Real happy with this iron. I guess longevity is important for me also. Heats fast, works real smooth as a marcel iron should. I've worked with marcel irons for 30 yrs, no adjustment. Like the black and white, would buy again. Price surprisingly reasonable for such a quality pro iron....time will tell

This is how I was taught to use a curling iron when I was young -with no spring… I could never go use another kind. This is a top quality product and I love it (as long as you know how to use it this is a great purchase.)

My Marcel style curling iron broke after about 12 years and I looked high and low going to many stores with no success. I searched Amazon and found this Marcel curling iron. I love it!!!!!!!! The ceramic style gives me a very smooth curl. It leaves my hair shiny and beautiful. I'm thinking about buying it again so I'll have it just in case -12 yrs from now.

It seems that every Hot Tools product I buy (and I've been buying them for decades) lasts about 2-3 years. It's wise to hold on to your receipts & packaging in case your product (usually the power cord) starts to fail within the 3 year warranty. And even with proper care, it will inevitably fail. The spinning of the cord, especially on a marcel, wears down over time - and the way Hot Tools have designed their power cords seems to be especially susceptible to damage. I don't curl my hair daily, and my last iron was barely even used a few times/month (I was on a flat iron curl kick) and the cord was never bent at the base, but it still went bad within the 3 year mark.That said, if you understand you're paying $40-50 every 3 years for a product that otherwise works fabulously, this is a decent buy.

Nothing like a new curling iron! Gets hot fast!

I’ve had a few hot tools Marcel curling irons. The coating started flaking off on this one within a couple of weeks. Instead of the typical easy Amazon return process, I was supposed to pay to send it back and then hope they gave a refund for the item and the shipping. It ended up being too much of a pain, but I would absolutely not buy this item or use the seller I bought it from again.
