Polly Plastics Rock Tumbler Grit Refill, Final Polish 1200 Fine Aluminum Oxide, Stage 4 for Tumbling Stones (2 Pack) (3 lb.)

I'm new to tumbling and, once I ran through the grit that was included with my National Geographic tumbler, I was on the hunt for some new stage 4 grit. The stones I'm tumbling already have a great shape, they just need polishing. I was really disappointed with how my first batch using this grit came out. They don't quite have the finish I was expecting, and I was also disappointed when they arrived without any kind of note or instructions or anything.So, while you'll see other positive reviews of this product, know that not everyone is so thrilled.

I purchased this on the suggestion of some negative reviews on the National Geographic product line. For whatever reason, they chose a poor final polish which resulted in very dull stones that in some cases were worse off after tumbling.The Poly Plastics 1200 Fine Aluminum Oxide does an amazing job. The first batch that came out was so shiny I thought they were still wet.

I used the product for the final stage (polishing) of rock tumbling. I followed the instructions, let the rocks tumble with ceramic filler for 18 days, and I have to say that I was pretty disappointed with the results: there was no shiny lustre that I had been expecting. So, I suppose I will be adding ANOTHER step to the process with my Dremel and the polishing bits. BUT, if that makes my stones stand out from the rest, then it will be TOTALLY worth the extra time and effort!

Love this product! About as pure as it gets and very fine in consistency. Great for tumbling or sand blasting. I also used it to make home made rubies, so it's pure enough for that as well. Over all, a fantastic product that I will be buying again.

Does an excellent job of rock polishing. I use this with my Harbor Freight dual cylinder tumbler and it has produced beautiful results. It makes the rocks really shiny and brings out their color.

I used this in a five gallon fish tank I made for my grandson. Very Pretty and showed the colors of the fish.

It doesn’t shine the stones as promised. Mine still look icky even after 2 rounds of this stuff for 10 days. Needs to be 1400 to actually shine. This is just a scam!

Still a matte finish on my rocks. I kept checking on them and never shiny. Very disappointing.

The product worked as it should with excellent results. I'd recommend it to anyone interested in rock tumbling and polishing.
