From the Author I so thoroughly enjoyed writing this book that I had to make it a series. The idea of a crime fighting duo including a pot-bellied pig and a cop were just too fun and delicious to ignore.I had the joy of meeting and getting to know a pot-bellied pig named Alfie who would do anything for a dog biscuit. He was highly intelligent and devoted to his owner. Sadly, both have passed now. I hope I did his memory justice in creating the "Gertrude" character. And I don't, by the way, have anything against cops. I have family members who serve in law enforcement and am proud of them. What can I say...I'm not politically correct. What writer is?Seal Island is loosely based on Lasqueti Island. It's a great place. No electricity. No running water. Loads of self-expression and creative living. It's a step back in time, filled with millionaires, artists, eccentrics, and just plain nice people. Lasqueti, thanks for the inspiration, you rock! Why not........
Very entertaining, makes you giggle. A light fun read ,with lovable characters. I found it easy to keep up with all all of them. Certainly a break from the mysteries I usually read . Fun!

Fascinating and quirky mystery...
I really, really loved this book...so much so that I immediately read the second and third in the series. I just couldn't put them down until I knew the outcome of the mysteries. The setting is fascinating and unusual - it makes the story richer. The characters were very unique and the plot was complex. I read a wide variety of cozy mysteries and can't think of any I have enjoyed as much as this series. It is quirky and funny, yet the plot is complicated and interesting. I look forward to future books from this author.

Enjoyed the story and the humor...end left me wanting
Very cute idea, enjoyed the animal scenes, and liked the descriptive writing. But the end was a bit of a let down.

Utterly entertaining cozy mystery!
I found this book to be quite fantastic! It’s a funny, cozy mystery set on an island where basically everyone knows one another. Everyone also knows Gertrude the pig and Peaches the cow. They were by far the most entertaining characters! The book moved at a swift pace and the characters were interesting. There were a lot of them though and at one point I did find myself having to think back to who was who. Other than that the book was a comical and quirky mystery that I really enjoyed. I definitely want to continue the series. I hope Gertrude and Peaches continue to make appearances in the books. The narrator really suited the story well. She brought the characters to life and added comedy to certain areas that may have seemed dull otherwise.I would like to thank the author/narrator/publisher for generously providing me with a copy of this audiobook in exchange for an unbiased and honest review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Must read the book in series!!!
I enjoyed this book a great deal it was incredibly disappointed with the ending. Almost didn’t read the second book in the series but was desperate for something to read. Thank God I did because it was really excellent and made this one good too. I’m not going to do a spoiler by telling you why, you’re going to have to read them to find out. I am about to eagerly start the third in the series now.

Gertrude and Peaches Steal the Show
An amusing and semi-cozy murder mystery with too many characters, but the search feature solved that problem. One very predatory victim suddenly viewed as some kind of put upon saint by the cop was ridiculous, but then not my plot line.Entertaining enough to read the second book.

A fun read
I enjoyed this book. It had some unusual characters, some of the animal variety. The murder plot left you wondering where it was going until late in the story. The story isn’t quite a cliffhanger but you need to read the next book to see where the story is headed.

Gumboots
This was an okay story. It seemed to pick up then drag for a bit.The same with narration by Carrie Burgess.I think there were too many characters to keep track of.I was given this book by the narrator, author or publisher free for an honest review.
