BIG BOX OF TISSUES NEEDED FOR THIS BOOK!
In this latest installment, we get to see the life of Elish as a young adult. This is how he becomes who he is today, and experiences the first love, first betrayal by a lover, and finds a man who he learns he cannot live without. The Golden Boy, the Ice Man has his origins, and it isn't always what we expect. What I also love about this book is the family who has always supported and defended each other, even to the point of making some good bad choices thinking they are protecting their sibling. Nero is funny with his nicknames for everyone. Garrett is the happy go lucky brother, and Ellis is a woman who flourishes in all the testosterone she is surrounded by.This is an excellent companion book that is a must read for anyone reading the Fallocaust series.

Must Read for Fallocaust Fans
If you're a lover of the Fallocaust series, this is not to be missed. The thing about doing the backstory of a character we know well is that the story may end up being predictable. Yes, there are predictable things about this book - Silas will be a despicable jerk to Elish - but as always, QC finds a way to surprise. This book covers the years between ages 15 and 33, and they are a lot less angsty than Volume 1. Elish finds a way to rise up like a phoenix, and much of how we currently know him is formed in this book. It's great. But there is more to this book than just Elish vs. Silas. We get to see the development of other critical characters, too, and how complex their relationships are with Elish and each other. I can't wait till the next Fallocaust book.

... books as they're just mind blowing This is another fantastic companion novel that further enriches the Fallocaust Universe
It is always so hard to write about these books as they're just mind blowingThis is another fantastic companion novel that further enriches the Fallocaust Universe. Each companion novel is dispersed between every Fallocaust novel and they follow the life of a vital character. You can't skip them as they're imperative to the story. This one is about Elish, a character that I absolutely despised. Most of the main characters are chimera's, that are immortal and live in a post apocalyptic world. Elish was the oldest of his batch of four and this goes back about ninety years and tells about half of his life's story. It is horrific as are all Fallocaust novel's. They are not for the light hearted at all, they're extremely hardcore books. As I'm a huge fan of this series I loved it

Brilliant
Garden of Spiders 1 , volumes 1 & 2, is so brilliantly written, very dark, just the way I like it. All my emotions were running on overdrive as I literally lived and breathed everything Elish from the first sentence to the last. While this is primarily Elish's story, there are also a lot of other characters that are prominent throughout.I also had a love/hate relationship with Silas. He loved his first generation children with such passion, especially Elish, who he called his golden boy. But then he tormented Elish at every turn, both mentally and physically, and that created a huge schism that never healed.Garden of Spiders is a must read if you are to really understand Elish and Silas. I'm looking forward to reading Garden of Spiders 2! I'm giving this book 5+++++++ stars.

Epic
Captivating from the first page until the last. The author is so incredibly talented, it blows me away. I devour the pages of his stories like a starving person. The detail and emotion is incredible. The story is a saga that is so in depth, it would be impossible for me to give a summary justice. Suffice it to say, read the books in this series from beginning to end and it will be a mind blowing experience.

MIND BLOWING!!!!!
I was sadly late coming into this series. But, in a way that is good since I have not had a long wait to get my fix. This book gave us so much insight I to the minds and lives of Elish and Silas. Madness, insanity, and now and then a slight spark of actual humanity. Much like the chemicals ingested by the characters , this series has become my addiction. I bow to you Quil Carter and scream and beg for my next fix.

Wow
This book for me made me feel so much sorrow for Elish and I admit I did get teary eyed at certain parts. This companion book was one of my favorites. I can't wait for more.
