So far so good....
Most of my herb books were damaged due to a roofing issue. This book so far on my 5th chapter breaks down herbs and their uses well. It conducts a history connection. I am really enjoying it.

Great book for the price, but I did not like how it was organized.
This book was good for the price. It did not come with illustrations, but it did dive straight into the subject. I think the organization of the book could have been formatted a lot better, but it was not really all that bad. In my personal opinion, It was very good. I would recommend it for the practitioner of herbalism who want to pick herbs byt symptoms or a diagnosis, but the reverse is harder to accomplish. I find that if you want an encyclopedia of herbs and their uses then this book is not divided by the herbs. The book format is a good way to study though. I approve highly of this book.

The Medical Herbalist
IF you really want to be more medical, and understand the science and biology of how herbs and your body systems work this is the book for you. It is really a mini version of his $75.00 book "Medical Herbalism, the science and practice of herbal medicine. If you are not that technically minded it may be too deep. I use it as a back up when checking information from other herb books. It is a must to have in any herbalist's library. Although I prefer reading and relying on the herb books that are written more for the family herbalist.

A safe guide for student of modern herbalism
There are many medicinal plants in the world: some to be considered as food herbs, some as mild medicinal herbs, some as strong medicinal herbs and some even considered to be poisonous herbs. Based on the categories, we can conclude that not all herbs are safe to be used without any guidance from medical expert.Writer of this book is quite aware with this fact: so he was carefully selected which herbs to be included in his writing for the safety of readers. So, without any doubt: I will suggest it to my friends and anyone who interested in modern medical herbalism. This book is completely a quite quality safe herbalism guide.

best book for newbie to herbs
This book lays the foundation for working with herbs especially for newbies. It puts the herbs into categories base on the actions they produce example demulcent, and then Hoffman tells you how a demulcent works on different parts of the body. He gives a basic overview of how to make tinctures, salve and ointments ete. A great book to have if you are starting out. Great info and how to use herbs for healing. I found great help on how to help my daughter ezcema.
