Solid Quality Construction SOB Half Body Climbing Harness
The SOB Half Body Climbing Harness is constructed very well, the stitching and materials used appear to be quality components, using the harness is pretty much straight forward. The SOB Harness is easily adjusted for use and overall I would say comfortable to use. We use safety harnesses when working on buildings over two floors with slopes greater than forty five degrees to keep the insurance companies happy, function of the safety harness is always number one, comfort second this is both hands down. SOB did a wonderful job with the design and comfort, working in the harness sure beats the older Tree climbing harnesses that we were using. I think the SOB harness is a winner, full five stars across the board for SOB.

I will be using this SOB Half Body Climbing Harness, mainly for tree and limb trimming.
I ordered this SOB Half Body Climbing Harness and just received it on 12-16-2023. I haven't had time to give a review since it is the time that Christmas and the New Year Holidays are coming up. I have a lot of trees on my property, that need occasional trimming or taken down completely, for various reasons, at some point. This climbing harness will be used for the trimming and for taking trees down, when the tree is in a spot that just cutting it at the bottom, it makes the possibility of causing damage to a shed, garage, home or on a neighbor's property. This might need trimming limbs/branches towards the top end of the tree or cutting shorter trunk sections from the top and working towards the bottom. There are so many factors to consider and coming up with a plan to keep from causing damage, unwanted results or injuries. This means that safety is a main part of completing the job with a satisfactory result and without injuries. This harness will be a big safety measure for falling, stumbling, getting knocked off a limb by a falling branch, there are so many unknown situations that could come up. Being up in a tree can make the ground not look that far down, even if it isn't that far down, the ground is still hard and a fall of a short distance can injure you, broken limbs come to mind. This climbing harness is the type of safety equipment that is made for these type accidents, it is just one piece of safety measures, you need other types of equipment to work with the harness. A good climbing rope is another, you can't just buy a rope at the hardware store or home supply store. Most things at these types of stores, the products will have warnings about not using it to lift or hold items/human weight, suspended with this product. Safety straps, connection hardware, rope stops that will not slip and will stop you in midair before you hit the ground. You need the correct equipment that matches what all the other equipment's capacities are rated for. The items at your basic hardware, home supply store, usually will not stock or sell actual item rated for climbing or suspension of human weight. You can read the capacities on products that are 10, 20, 30x the weight of an average person, but have the warning of not made for this type of use. I did look this harness over, it looks well made, good stitching, padding for the lower back, narrow on the front of the leg straps, wider on the back part of the leg straps, with some padding on the back legs. The back part of the leg is the area of weight bearing if you are hanging, the adjustable size straps appear to lock and hold tight, not slip or loosen. This is rated for a person up to 220 lbs., it has loops for hanging equipment on the harness and the yellow parts on the harness are reflective with light shining on it. The one thing that I didn't like, was the instructions, owner's manual, was a very small, folded booklet, the printing is so small and tiny, it is almost unreadable, you need a magnifying glass to read it. This has important information and instructions on using it correctly, it doesn't make sense to have an important item for this harness, so small with tiny print, that unreadable to do any good for the owner/customer. In my own opinion, I can imagine people who find it too difficult to read, just give up on reading it and go with a best guess or it looks ok or correct, when it is not correct. I actually scanned sections of the manual, then made them larger in size, printed copies, stapled them in page number order and placed that inside the storage bag for the harness. I now have a readable copy available at all times, I do think that most or all of the extra equipment that I am planning on getting to work with the harness will fit into the same storage bag. That will make everything needed all stored in the same bag, less likely to forget something, that way.

Well built, a bit heavy.
Nicely padded, this harness has more in common with the full body, rated harnesses I use at work. While the harness is quite a bit heavier than my general climbing harness that I got at a outdoor store, it is far better suited for everyday use where shaving off every ounce for the sake of making a climb is a thing. It does not seem to have any of the characteristics I was concerned about in being an "off brand". As someone who does high work a lot for a living I am totally comfortable in trusting my own life to this equipment.

Industrial Harness
This is an industrial quality harness, which means that if you are a pro then you will get everyday use out of this. Adjustible leg straps make for a very tailored fit. Also the bulkiness of it makes it go over jeans or heavy canvas work pants. Whoever comes up with the brand name of these things?

Great tree climbing harness overall
Great climbing harness especially considering the low price. I'm a tree trimmer and this one is up to standard. I especially like that the front rings placement and design. It's not too long and it's sewn on so its oriented upwards which makes it easier to grab while I'm up in a tree unlike how it hangs low in other harnesses. I would have preferred buckles for the legs and waist but the cinch mechanism works well and uses metal hardware. Quality materials and construction, easy to adjust to size and doesn't loosen up and ride up while climbing.

Solid Harness with a great carrying bag
I have another similar harness, but this one adds a nice carrying bag. It has loops on the sides for carrying caribeeners or other tools and is easily adjustable. Works great for rapelling down a steep hill near me, clips in and adds a second "premium" feeling harness to my tools.I do like that when not in use I can put it in the provided bag to provide a little added protection, I don't have bags for my other harnesses. It feels comfortable and meets my expectations.

Surprised by the quality of this harness
When this arrived I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of this harness. It isn't incredibly heavy but it feels sturdy and was manufactured well. The stitching is consistent and clean, the D rings are all very smooth and round so there's no risk of damaging a rope. The buckles close easily but I do wish there was a way to lock them out for more security, but they do tighten and hold well as is. Overall this is a very comfortable harness that I'm impressed with the fit, comfort, and quality. This should be great for some low height work.
