This bookshelf is well-built for the price. There are others that are made of solid wood out there, but for 6x the price, which I was not willing to spend. It has very nice accents and trim all around, and the shelves themselves are also quite sturdy.The best thing, however, was the set of instructions itself. I have not seen better illustrations, guidelines, and grammar in a long time. These are not your usual, cryptic, translated from Chinese instructions that leave you half-guessing. Written in clear, concise English, they make assembly a breeze. They even insert some humor here and there! It is a very welcome thing to see a set of directions that someone put time and effort into for once.

At first, I was very confused when the box for this arrived as it was dramatically smaller than what I expected. It was very heavy, however, and definitely required two people to carry it anywhere which made me realize that it was in fact the right product. Assembly was very straightforward, and aside from little screws that are hard to see during one part, it was one of the easier projects I've assembled (especially considering the size of the bookshelf). With two people it took about 45 minutes to completely put together - inlcuding the safety wall bracket (which was a welcome touch to help endorse safety). Overall it looks beautiful and appears much higher quality than the cost would suggest. I'm beyond happy with the end result and will likely buy this exact model again if I'm ever in need of an additional tall bookshelf.

How did the UPS guy get the package to my door? It weighed like 100 lbs. The best instruction book and layout scheme of the pieces I've ever seen. I only got confused once -- I had one shelf in backwards, but a friend corrected me. This is not solid cherry wood, but heavy particle board with a cherry veneer. Once assembled, it's solid as a rock. The color is beautiful and darkly rich-looking. For $100, a terrific value, a five- shelve bookcase and even coffee-table books fit inside.

So we all know that the less expensive furniture is usually pressed particle board or similar. This is no exception. While the pieces are made of particle board the quality is of the higher variety. Additionally the design utilizes a face piece that runs the length of each shelf that enhances the appearance but more importantly adds some structural strength to the shelves. The bookcase looks great, the finish looks great. Given the quality and the moderate price I would recommend this bookcase. In fact, I purchased 4 more of these. I have these shelves totally full with heavy hardcover books. If the shelves begin to sag I'll update the review but they show no signs of sagging after 3 weeks loaded with books.

This is a complete rip-off .product is not made of wood but is molded sawdust and glue.It is Supposed to be assembled with cams and dowels'but they don't fasten properly.So in frustration if a person decides to use wood screws he discovers the glue and sawdust cracking..I Warn Everyone to save their money and do not contribute to a rip-off make a fast buck company. disillusioned with amazons oversight role.

Well first of all my first package was shipped incorrectly. An investigation is being done but I got another one shipped to me right after. I just had it sent to my work place. That's what I'll do with all my shipments from now on but anyway they're really responsible. The product is great and easy to assemble. My cat even helped! 😸I really just appreciate the company actions to fix things. I didn't show the entire bookcase cause I have a lot of my manga in them along with my cooking books. 😅But it looks amazing and I recommend using a drill slowly even if the manual says not to do it. Have someone help out too. Great product recommend it out of all the options in Amazon. (Late review cause I had the flu 😷 but better late than never. ) Much love!❤

The book case is decent, what I don't like about it is that the back is CARDBOARD, how tacky! Very disappointing, plywood would have been a better option. Also hard to put together, took my husband 2 hours to put together. Keep it close to the wall, a little wobbly.

It looks like a very expensive elegant bookcase and the shelves don't sag with a reasonable book load. Of course for this price its made of veneer particle board and they add a bunch of trim pieces that adds strength and design detail. The downside it that the addition of the extra trim pieces adds a bit of assembly complexity and time. For me, it was worth the extra assembly effort to get a bookcase that is sturdy and has almost the look of a solid wood piece.
