While the product is adequate for the purpose of winding up a pool hose, the plastic is quite flimsy and I wonder how long it may hold up. Only time will tell but overall I'm satisfied with the purchase.

This is advertised as a reel for a pool backwash hose, but it is actually an electric cord reel like you would find at Home Depot for winding up longer outdoor electric cords. This matters because the "holder" in the center of the reel is designed to grab a small round electric cord not a large flat pool hose. Once you can get the hose started on the reel (by friction), it works just fine.

More suitable for an extension cord... To use this for a back wash cord, you would have to have a short hose and take it off the filter each use. We ended up repurposing and wrapped a long outdoor extension cord on it.

We bought this to hold our pool backwash hose of 100ft. Even though it says it will hold 100ft of hose, it does not.

I’ve bought different reels for my backwash hose and this one actually works

i got this to wrap up a 100' discharge hose in 1.5" diameter. it barley managed to get about 2/3 of it on. It isn't the most sturdy contraption in the world and i ended up wrapping the rest of the hose all the way around this thing because i don't know what else to do.

I have 100' of 1" flat hose for draining backwater and I could only get about 25' on the reel. I was expecting a much bigger unit from the description and photo but the reel diameter is only about 12" and with the hub can not accommodate hose as claimed. I will keep the unit and use it for an extension cord with my tool box since it is well made and compact and will accommodate and extension cord but won't work for 1" flat hose over about 25'.
