From Director Lloyd Kaufman, President of Troma Studios and the Creator of the Toxic Avenger comes Poultrygeist: Night of the Chicken Dead! When the American Chicken Bunker, a military themed fast food restaurant, builds it's latest chain restaurant on the site of an ancient Native American burial ground, the displaced spirits take revenge on unsuspecting diners and transform them into chicken zombies! Now, it's up to a dimwitted counter boy, his collegiate lesbian ex-girlfriend and a burqa-wearing fry cook to put an end to the foul feathered menace once and for all. A sly mix of social satire, extreme gore, slapstick comedy and toe-tapping musical numbers, Poultrygeist: Night of the Chicken Dead is the wildest and best-reviewed movie in Troma's 35 Year History!

Clucking Geniius
Poultrygeist: Night of the Chicken Dead is Lloyd Kaufman's best movieto date. Which is true for almost all of his previous movies as thelegend only gets better and better. This film can be read on so manylevels that finally being able to revisit it over and over again nowthat it is out on DVD is something many fans have been waiting for. Ofcourse the careless viewer can watch it as a wonderful splattering goryand amazingly entertaining, wildly funny horror musical with a greatstory and one of the best casts Troma has ever had the pleasure ofworking with, and even then you are in for a treat because nonanosecond is wasted. There is so much going on in the background, thetiniest props have the most insightful jokes and messages on them.Check what is on the headstones in the opening scenes, read the titleson DVD covers appearing in the film, T-shirts people are wearing -there are many opportunities to freeze-frame your DVD and see what iseasily missed when you saw the film in a theater. Every detail has beengiven much care, down to the names of all the characters. But there arealso load of political statements, that can be read painfully wrong ifyou are not aware of the background of the director, and are all themore powerful if you are. Other than that, it is one of those rarezombie-themed films that are provokingly intelligent. There are so manyzombies in hundreds of movies that are there only for gores sake, herethey serve a purpose, here they present a striking metaphor of whatmodern society has come to, filled with unthinking trend-followingfood-stuffing individuals who seem to have no control over themselvesand much less a mind of their own. Most striking is the idea the movieis built upon: a fast food restaurant built on a sacred native Americanburial ground magnificently represents how the new Americans havetreated the land they took and the original cultures that lived on it:destroyed it, killed it, buried it and built a literally andmetaphorically totally tasteless new meaningless culture on top of it.The dialog is fast, witty and powerful and the film leaves the viewerwith a whole lot to chew upon This again is a movie that demonstrateshow ridiculous the popular notion is that Troma makes trivial andtasteless movies. Lloyd Kaufman may make movies the about tastelessnessof todays world, but that doesn't make his movies tasteless. Quite thecontrary - there are very few directors in the movie industry who areable to show what is wrong with humanity in such a painfully accurateway,The 3-disc DVD set is not to be missed by anyone who is remotelyinterested in horror, Troma, movies in general and fans of LloydKaufman's work. It is a total encyclopedia on what is Poultrygeist withnot only a beautifully presented widescreen version of the film, butloads of insightful extra's on all three discs. There is a featurelength documentary on the making of the film, shots of the NYCpremiere, deleted scenes, film-making lessons, an alternate ending, music video's, karaoke versions of the songs from the film and manymore Tromatic goodies.A great film by a legendary genius director with a very talented cast. And all that in this kind of loaded package for such a price. Get it,before they're gone. It's the best buy for your money.

THIS REVIEW CONDUCTED BY A FELINE NAMED MAYHEM..........(MALE)
I had to give it 5 stars because 4-3/4 was not available. Here's why I couldn't give it 5 whole stars: I am buried in an ancient Indian burial site and even though I am not indian, I know for a fact they do not reach up from the ground to grope teenagers having sex on the site. This absurdity is wholly unrealistic. Really all we do is lay and wait in our boxes (or coffins, depending on time of death) and tell each other buffalo hunting stories and mentally make arrowheads for out next big hunt. One thing I would like to clear up is the fact that it does not take 5 minutes to change a normal girl into a lesbian. I would think it takes longer than that unless you were already pre-wired in that direction. My cat (MAYHEM) now refuses to eat chicken flavored mushy food for some reason. I guess I will change his food to CAT flavored and see if he notices. He is already pissed for making him watch this movie, but then again he does NOT have a sense of humor. Other than the burial thing, I liked the movie because the makers made an extreme effort to overdo the unreality of the movie. I expected it to be stupid-retarded but it was just grossly humorous for those who have that kind of sick humor, such as myself. It was funny if you don't have a good grip on reality. OK, my schizophrenia just kicked in, gotta go eat. I think I'll have me some feather soup. Caz I just don't like the meat. It talks to me and makes fun of me sometimes, so we have some bad history.

5 Star Rating For Lloyd Kaufman
Troma Film Studios has assembled a great stellar cast including Jason Yachanin, Kate Graham, Robin Watkins, Allyson Sereboff, Joshua Olatunde, Rose Ghavami, Caleb Emerson, Khalid Rivera, Lloyd Kaufman (also the writer/director), Brian Cheverie, Michael Herz as the Subway guy; Jared, Faith Sheenan Gallivan, Ron Jeremy, Tessa Lew and John Karyus as the main cast members for the best Troma movie. This movie is funny but not for all audiences, unless you enjoy gore combined with more gore. But, it's Lloyd Kaufman, what else to say? The main plot is about an idiotic high school graduate (Jason Yachanin) being hired by the American Chicken Bunker; Tromaville's new fast food restaurant. The restaurant was built on Indian Burial Grounds. After a bunch of deaths and possessions take place; the high school graduate (now a cashier), his lesbian turned girlfriend (Kate Graham), a greedy fast food mogul (Robin Watkins), a fellow protestor (Allyson Sereboff), an oddly familiar old man (Lloyd Kaufman), a goofy priest (Brian Cheverie) and a Muslim immigrant (Rose Ghavami) are the only ones to stop the zombie chickens before they take over America. This is also a very loose parody on POLTERGEIST and NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD, you can see why too. A few of my favorite scenes are when Arbie questions Carl Jr. about how to kill these zombies, Denny's monologue about a chicken attack on the Indianapolis delivery truck (spoofs Quint's monologue in JAWS about the Indianapolis shark attacck) and Michael Herz making fun of Jared (the man who lost a lot of weight from fast food sandwiches) 5 out of 5 star rating.

Wow!
This movie is so stupid yet so fun to watch! I really enjoyed watching it and laughed so hard. I give it 5 stars cuz it is a very fun movie just to check out. I couldn't get the theme song out of my head. The video to the theme song is on this disc. If you real serious about watching a movie and want everything to be perfect, this is not for you. It's kind of a sick and twisted movie but fun to watch. It will blow your mind watching it.

Eggstraordinary movie
Here it is, finally, THE Troma movie! The one Lloyd Kaufman had to almost starve in order to produce it.Poultrygeist is a hysterical satire about America and most particularly the capitalistic fast-food industry, mostly KFC. Add to this the secret ingredient only Kaufman can add and you have yourselves a cornerstone in the genre. The plot is simple, yet interesting. Arbie always wanted to go to college, but is unable because he has to support his handicapped parents. His girlfriend Wendy goes but comes back as a liberal socialist lesbian, trying to stop the American Chicken Bunker chain to open on an ancient Indian burial ground, along with her girlfriend Mickie (Troma HAD to include lesbians!). Arbie enlists to work at ACB to get revenge on Wendy. From there, the movie becomes really tromaesque: incredibly funny, shoking, gory, perverted, twisted, bizarre, freak, extreme and bloody, with Tromatic cameos and nudity all over, you know, the usual...++!Somewhere between "On the Town", "Fast-Food Nation" and "Day of the Dead" hatches this wild and raw comedy from the dear bottom hole of Uncle Lloydie!Simply his masterpiece, the most "Tromatic" movie from Troma. It is hilarious and spectucular. Independant art doesn't get any better than this! The DVD, even for double that price, would be superb! 3 discs filled with bonus features, including a two-hour documentary about how even a pleasant Kaufman doing a pleasant movie can be really an unpleasant experience! The sacrifices made by that man to bring us this movie are unbelievable.Poultrygeist might be the best Troma movie ever, maybe the best independant movie ever! Buy it and have a blast with a couple of buddies, it's a memorable experience!

Clucking Brilliant
!!!!Warning! This review may contain Salmonella!!!Despite protests, the American Chicken Bunker chain build an outlet on top of a sacred American Indian burial ground in Tromaville. Head chickadee General Lee Roy(Rob Watkins) evens turns up to promote his tasty morsels. Meanwhile, affable loser Arbie(Jason Yachanin), pining for his ex-girlfriend Wendy(Kate Graham) who has eloped with militant Lesbian anti-Chicken Bunker campaigner Micki(Allyson Seraboff), decides to join the fast food empire and gets a job as a counter girl. However, there's something nasty bubbling away in the Bunker kitchen, something feathered, beaked and ready to eggsact revenge on those who disrespected the sacred burial ground. The night of the Native American zombie chicken has started, and workers and protesters alike soon realise its time they counted their chickens. This hilarious film is a real triumph for Lloyd Kaufman and Troma. It's laugh a minute stuff, and is a winning mix of over the top gore, catchy musical numbers(I dare you not to sing along!), vomiting, diarrhoea and deliciously incorrect humour. Its targets are so wide ranging(i.e everybody)that it can't be criticized for offending any group in particular. The great climatic scenes of bloody chicken carnage rival Peter Jackson's Braindead for sheer outrageous gore quotent, and you'd have to be a very hard person not to fall in love with cute little Paco, the militant homosexual chicken sandwich. Eggcellent eggxtras too. I suggest you just capon going to your local dvd store and pullet a copy of this great movie from the shelf. Its better than a bargain bucket. 5 out of 5
