Essential Guide for a New D7000 owner
At Christmas I upgraded to my new D7000 from a D5000. This book was invaluable in beginning to learn my new camera and continues to be a nice reference for me. Its small size lets me carry it in my camera backpack where I can get to it quickly when needed. It was an early reference for the D7000 and was published several months before others were even scheduled for release. In spite of that it is well-written and organized. My learning curve was very much shortened because I had it to use. The included grey card and color card was a nice addition. I have the 'Dummies' book that I got when I bought my D5000. It was good and very helpful - but I think that this 'Nikon D7000 Digital Field Guide' is even better.

A pro tells u how to use camera, what features are + how to use.
You need this book if not a pro. A pro tells what each feature is and how to use it. Most manuals leave out the how to part. The buttons and switches on the body make it much easier than a cheaper DSLR. Even so, it requires study to master it all. Book arrived in New condition. It is a great reference tool for D7000. Gives a lot of ideas and suggestions. I would pay 3 times $9 price. These DSLR's are so packed with features, the should come with a tutor!! This book is it!

Try another book
For the most part I have to agree with the last reviewer. I got this book because it was the first to come out for this camera. I am new to DSLR photography, and the D7000 is my first camera of this quality. That said, I do consider myself to be a quick learner, and a gadget junky. I pick up and understand electronics quite quickly, and not just by messing with them, I do take an active part in reading and actually learning about devices since some of the sweetest functions are the ones you will only read about.I have read this book cover to cover with my camera with me at all times, and I have taken about 500 test pics. For the most part I was not all that impressed with this book. There are some very important missing diagrams at the beginning for the top display panel. This panel shows over a dozen different settings and understanding exactly what each one does I think is vital to a novice reader.I found the reference to all of the buttons/displays and commands on the camera a bit confusing. You would read the description about the button or display or setting and then have to reference the diagram. Even 3/4's into this book I found that I had to always go back to the beginning pages to look at the diagrams to know for sure what button they were referring to. No icons or symbols are used in the entire book when talking about a specific button, they are always just referred to by name. I think it would be better to show the icon of the button as well as use the name. Maybe that is me nit-picking, but in learning all the terms I thought it would be useful, this is supposed to be an intro book is it not?Towards the end of the book, some sentences actually uses the wording similar to "if your camera has this ability"...What do you mean "if?!" Does the author not know?! I found that rather odd. This book should tell you everything this camera can do and no more.I did learn a few things, but not as much as I thought. I am now moving onto the next released book "From Snapshots to Great Shots" The intro pages that Amazon lets you preview already look better than what is in this book. I have a feeling this will be the one that really lets me learn the nuances of this fantastic camera.

A great supplement to the manual
Nikon's manuals that arrive with your camera are pretty good, but they do leave a lot to be desired if you're relatively new to photography and don't understand all the technical terminology. The D7000 Digital Field Guide takes you through all the camera's features and functions in plain English with clear explanations, examples, and specific recommendations to help you achieve the best results with the camera.Experienced photographers will find it useful as well, but this inexpensive paperback really takes the mystery out of learning your way around the D7000 if you find the manual a bit confusing. And the second half of the book is devoted to more general principles of photography including basic and intermediate-level concepts, as well as specific recommendations on supplementary lenses and equipment that will help you get the most out of your D7000.The book is well organized, clear and concise with copious illustrations, and highly recommended.

Nikon D7000 Field Guide - A Perfect Match!
My new Nikon D7000 is great and now with Nikon D7000 Field Guide I am able to use my camera to its' full potential! The book is written in a highly understandable fashion and very easy to comprehend. A most for those starting out in the digital world or those transitioning from film to digital. I highly recommend!

Great book at a great used copy price
Great book at a great used copy price. Have used it the last few weekends when taking the used D7000 out to shoot I recently received. While I am familiar with dSLRs, I'm not familiar with the D7000 menu system or where it stores all its various functions. The index in this book is pretty well done. I was able to find quickly the references to different, more advanced functions I needed. Instructions on how to change camera settings are clear, concise, and basically step-by-step. Magic Lantern Guides have never failed me before and this one hasn't either.

Typical expanded operator manual
Although the manual provided with the camera is relatively complete, especially when compared to one for the D5100, Thomas' Field Guide provides additional discussion and many useful hints and warnings. This Guide is written from the point of view of an actual user of the camera and provides a more entertaining introduction to the technical information that the user needs to know. The Guide's format and sequence of information presentation are different from the manual and these may also assist the learning process. I bought the electronic version for two reasons: (1) electronic search for specific topics is faster than paper searches; and (2) it's small enough to carry around on my phone, so it's always where I can use or refer to it.

Best One
There are many books out there for Nikon D7000 camera, and this is a good one amongst those. Detailed and easy to implement. Quality is great. The price seems to be higher but it’s worth it.

Just right
A book for those new to this excellent camera. Its not too big or small in size so can be packed into a camera bag for quick reference. It also has useful cards that can be removed if the book cant be carried with camera. As said by others this book may not be of use to those that have a lot of experience in handling DSLR cameras. My teenage daughter tried out this camera from her uncle but didn't understand a lot of what this camera had to offer, so took a chance and got this book which she likes. Now she has got a good used D7000 and finds this book very handy and a lot easier to read than the supplied Nikon hand book, Recommended

How to ... mit der Nikon D7000
