Another Baldacci brilliant read. If you have not read any of his books you are really missing out. All his books I have read probably over 20 now have not disappointed.

truth
Very confused for the first 3/4 of the book 😟. It took me a long while for me to become engrossed in the story. When this happened the remaining 1/4 of the book was very engrossing to the end

velocemente

Scary. This improbable plot has now been rendered more probable 14 years after this novel was written.
David Baldacci always does his homework. Sometimes we see rather too much of it in the narrative, but at least we can fasten ours seatbelts for a fast-paced thriller. Reading this book for the first time in 2021, when current events have inured us to "fake news", 24/7 electronic Big Brother surveillance, a real scare over North Korea, and proven Russian interference in two US elections, not to mention QAnon and propaganda TV networks and a global viral pandemic, the plot of this thriller may seem almost tame. But PM = "perception management" is a real evil that stalks the modern world.I enjoyed meeting the new agent Shaw, his annoying journalist sidekick Katie James, and the unloveable back-office guys. Also like the anecdotal touches relating to cities that I have visited. My recommendation is to read this book at speed and enjoy the story. See if you can spot the mole (I didn't).
