does not work well with my pencil
I bought this to sharpen relatively thick art pencils that my wife uses. you put he pencil in and grind and grind and grind and the pencil is barely sharpened. I haven't been able to get a really sharp point. From my childhood I remember sharpening pencils by hand easily. this is the second sharpener I have bought through Amazon -- and the last. I am going to get advice in a Staples (I'll bring my pencils).

This is Huge
Opening the box with my new Tihoo pencil sharpener was pretty funny. I was picturing your usual run-of-the-mill electric sharpener, but this is Huge!It comes with an adapter, which is always good for saving those batteries. I wonder how many this sharpener would take, being, as someone else mentioned, a full seven inches tall and weighing about one-and-one-third pounds. And that's where we come to the point that this is sort of overkill. Yes, it will in theory take all different sizes of pencils, and all different types, with its adjustable entry point. But it seems to "like" the thinner pencils best, and does a faster, better job on those. Besides this taking up more room than I had allocated for a pencil sharpener, I think it will have limited use for me since my sharpening needs are pretty basic.I'm sure this would be a good choice for an accounting office with multiple users, or for a graphic arts department (just thinking of places I have worked that would make good use of it) but for me it's a bit over-the-top.

Saved SOOO Much Time
School Supply Lists came out and I needed 36 SHARPENED pencils on the list. Our local office supply store had #2 pencils on sale. Being my first school supply pick-up, I wasn't aware there that 1) Manual pencil sharpeners won't cut it, and 2) On sale pencils are the worst...basically kept breaking every time I tried to insert it into a manual pencil sharpener.Someone suggested -- buy them pre-sharpened. Looking at the prices, that was a hard pass. Plus, the hubs uses pencils for work and said he wouldn't mind having one for the home as well.I found only pros with this:1) You can adjust the bluntness. I'm not a fan of ultra-sharp pencils. Got accidentally stabbed with one in my childhood that left a tattoo. While my hubs loves his ultra-sharp.2) It's so quick. I got my 36 pencils sharpened so quickly.3) Canister was big enough to sharpen the 36 pencils with no breaks: No need to empty the canister until after I finished.

I thought maybe this would be better for my coloring pencils
I have an electric pencil sharpener I bought for regular school-type pencils and have not used it for my coloring pencils, so when I saw that this was noted for them, I thought, well, give it a try. I was disappointed. It really didn't do a very good job on my coloring pencils at all. Not after I pitted it against the other pencil sharpener that I'd only used for school pencils. My other pencil sharpener did a much better job with no breaking of the "lead" of the colored pencils. I really did want to like this one, but it's just not all that...especially for the price! I can't recall exactly what I paid for the other pencil sharpener, but I'd almost guarantee it was not over $25. Oh, and my other pencil sharpener is USB rechargeable!

Made in China. Auto on/off Works for almost all pencil sizes / types.
This pencil sharpener stands 7” tall. It measures 3.75” across at the bottom. 3” across at the top. The majority of the product is plastic. It comes with a power cord. This sharpener will work with multiple pencil sizes and shapes. Auto on/off.I’m not a huge fan of the “waste bin” as shavings fill-up around the sharpener itself. This pencil sharpener is Made in China and being sold by a Chinese company on Amazon. At the current price of 40 bucks, I think it’s at least twice the price it should be. I prefer X-ACTO sharpeners. . . . but. . . this one works as long as you don’t mind emptying it more often.
